To me the very fact that you pray before going to sleep is the important part. I can't see God holding a forgotten amen against you. And by the way there is no such thing as a stupid question. I had a teacher that told me smart people are the ones that know where and how to find the answers, And one of the ways is to ask.

I think the main thing is that you pray. If I am not mistaken,(someone correct me if I am wrong) the meaning for amen is "let it be so". There are many different ways to pray as there are people. Generally we do it in the way that feels right to us. I have fell asleep right in the middle of prayers before, but I knew that God still heard them.

it should be say this word if you pray, amen means you are hoping that it will become. in your prayer you are wishing that the Higher person will grant you, in every prayer amen should be the last word we hear to each and everyone.

I went to a catholic school when I was young..Of course, praying is a very important thing for those nuns and priest..but they dont spank whenever I forgot to say Amen..But then, as I grow up, I kinda memorized the prayers and so with the Amen..It's like a finalization or ending of a prayer..It's ok if you sometimes forget..God will understand..It isn't the Amen alone that is important in a prayer..It's what your message and thought that count..
