My uncle works in a diamond factory.I got the the information from him that diamonds are found in a wide variety of forms. Most are small and uneven. They can be used in factories but they are not very valuable. However, some diamonds are large and can be cut into beautiful gems. These gems can be worn as jewelry and are of great value. I think most girls wound want a diamond ring when they got engaged,do you agree with that? But It's a pity not all of us can afford diamond jewelries.

Did he also tell you how common diamonds are? The lust for diamonds is artificially created by marketing geniuses! There are many gorgeous gems that are less common than diamonds but not as valuable. Cubic Zirconia has been perfected to the point now that it looks like a diamond and has the flash and brilliance of one, too. Another thing--a diamond is only as valuable as what someone will pay for it. I had to sell my engagement ring to attorney fees during my divorce. It was appraised at $3800 but the most anyone would give me was $588, and that was mostly for the gold. There are other ways to express commitment. A beautiful sapphire, for example, costs a fraction of what a diamond does. My son gave his fiance a blue topaz in sterling silver for less than $200. She got a beautiful ring with her favorite gem and they saved about $2000 towards their future!

i agree with you. my husband is a jewelry designer and he told me the exact same thing. when we sell jewelry, its mostly the gold that people tend to buy. i wanted to sell my diamond ring to buy a foo dog antique but could not sell it for the price i want. sadness isnt it?

Diamonds are beautiful and yes women to love them. Honestly though, if I was in love and my man wanted to propose but couldn't afford a diamond I would be happy with almost anything he chose providing he tried to make it something meaningful and showed that he cared. (my hubby couldn't afford a diamond when we got engaged but many years later he got me a mother's ring which has 2 diamonds in it because we have 2 kids born in April)

Some diamonds are very pretty, depending on how they are set in the jewellery they can be very nice. But to be honest I am not really a diamond lover, I prefer coloured stones and more interesting jewellery.

I like diamonds because the sparkle but, so do cz's. I have a few pieces of diamond jewelry but, I prefer my cz's and the crystal jewelry that I make. It still sparkles like crazy and, it costs a lot less. For our 30th wedding anniversary this year, my husband gave me a beautiful "diamond" ring. They are not diamonds. They are cz's and, I love it. I can wear it out and if I lose it or something else happens to it, the only reason it would bother me is because my husband gave it to me and, that is what I love about it most.

diamond is a hardest kind of carbons, i learned it when i studied metallurgy. the properties of diamond is different from other metal element. there are many uses of diamond, it can cut glass and can be put at the top of a drill specially making tunnel for train highways. it can break solid rocks. that is the awesome uses of diamond but the most common is used it as jewelry. sad to say even many will love it but not all can afford to buy it because of it's price, so expensive normal people can have it except the riches one.

Many years ago, I was a very different person than I am now. Yes, I wanted a diamond...and I expected my fiance to spend the appropriate amount based on his income to buy it. Which he did. Now I realize how quite sad that is. Oh, I could go into a long explanation about what I had been through, why I felt I was justified (at the time)...and yadda yadda...but..whatever. However, I do still love my wedding set very much...it is a solitary diamond that is modestly sized on a thin solid gold band and flanked by two other small gold bands. It is beautiful in a very understated way. I would still choose it today but for very different reasons. That is, and will remain, my only diamond. I have no desire to own another.

Yes, I'd agree that most women would like a diamond when they are engaged. I am a fan of diamonds, not in the sense of jewelry but of some of the other things they are used for. I suppose it is more diamond dust than actual diamonds though. For instance, the diamond coated sharpening stones for sharpening knives and such.
