Which do you like better, the book or the movies?

I prefer the books over the movies. For one thing, the movies do not make sense to me. A 400 + page book stuffed into a couple of hours ? The plot progresses so fast it is difficult to swallow. I have read the whole series and still find it difficult to grasp the plot sequences of the movies. Not to mention that Daniell Radcliff has far surpassed Harry's age. At this rate, by HP7 he will be 22 or more. What do you think?

I always prefer the books to the movies - with Harry Potter's adventures and beyond. I much prefer to use my imagination when it comes to theorizing the plot.

Me too. I mean, when I read the book, I feel like I'm walking along side Harry, exploring every corner of Hogwarts with him . Whenever he is in trouble , I feel a surge of adrenaline rushing through my veins. In the movie, everything happens so fast, it becomes really difficult to grasp the story, or feel anything at all. It is just a wild rush till the end. The only thing I believe that is holding the movies together is their graphics. The Hogwarts castle, the Forbidden forest, everything is as I had imagined. The same thing goes for The Lord of The Rings. The movies are great, but they do not cut close to the books.

but of course, the books are more interesting. Although we don't see any visual effects, the books give our minds alot of beautiful things to imagine. I am a bit disappointed with the movie, a great book must have a quality movie. It is difficult for the old artists to portray the characters because of some age difference. The artists grew so fast and Daniel looks really old now. I still love Harry Potter but not as appreciative to how they put it in film.

I will take the book over the movie every time. There has been so movie movies made from books that in the end the movie was terrible, so much was left out, endings were changed. Books can take you somewhere with the use of your imagination.

I watched the first film before i actually read the books, which was ok. But once i read the books it changed for me. The films are not so much fun now, like most films that have books that go with the film they have to cut a lot of the book out to be able to get it in, in 2 hours approx. But for me that spoils the book now, epsecially if it's the exciting parts they miss out. I do miss the books, i don't read that much but i really got stuck in to them. Have you found any books to read that are as good as Harry Potter??. I don't think they can continue with the films, they cannot change the characters it wont be the same.

Well, I like both the movie and the books. but I really prefer books anytime. It was more detailed and like you said, it's hard to stuffed the whole part of a book in 2 or so hours into a movie. So sometimes, I am kinda disappointed, I was anticipating to see one of my favorite chapter or event that happened in the book and not seeing that in the movie.

If it's a Harry Potter kind of movie, I would prefer it as a movie. If it's a love story, I think I love to read it instead. I've tried reading books with magic stuff and I was having a hard time picturing the character or those magical stuff in my head. hehehe.. When it's a spy type of movie, it's okay if it's movie or book.

I prefer the books of course because they are definitely done in more detail. I do however like the movies because I like seeing the magic of Harry Potter come to life. Sure, some things are missing, but I like some of the funny moments they shove into the movies.

depends on the story order of the phoenix was better as a movie, I think because Daniel Radcliffe can finally act, must be his stage experience goblet of fire was a letdown as a movie except for the dragon prisoner of azcaban was the best one mainly because of the style of direction and seeing the trio grow up a bit, the whole going back in time bit was fantastic chamber of secrets was the worst movie, way more interesting read sorcerer's stone was a great movie and book that went well hand in hand, maybe because of it being the first

The book is so descriptive and so involving its almost 10 times as good as the movie and the movie misses out many points too. And you are correct about Radcliff he will be 22 or so by the time of HP7 so it a little odd but still i hope the movie comes out good so that we enjoy watching it rather that worrying about other problems.

i prefer the book to the movie adaptation. in books, you use your imagination and rely on yourself for the interpretation not like in movies that you have to depend on the screen writer and the director. movies tend to leave out some good parts from the book and tend to leave the audience hanging.
