When you go shopping, do you tend to keep your plastic bags?

When I go to Wal-mart, I will keep the plastic bags that my food comes out of... Or anything that I buy from the store. If the bag is torn, then I will throw it away... Do you hang onto your bags? I do use these bags for things around my house....

The large Wal-Mart bags are great for smaller garbage cans; the blue ones are used for recycling and the white and clear ones get taken back to the store and put in their recycle bins. I do use them around the house for trash or sending food out with people but I rarely ever throw them away as it is just as easy to stuff them inside a larger bag and recycle them.

Oh yea, I always do. Those normal plastic cheapskate looking ones (LOL), I will use to hold my rubbish. How else do I contain my garbage? As for those pretty ones, I will store till I need them to hold something more important than garbage. If they are torn, not much good lol.

When I get the bags from the stores and it's usually quite a bit so, they tend to pile up. Now, I use them for gfarbage which is not good. hen I live in Toront there was a manditory recycling project but, here in Alabama I dont see anything like that available and that's a shame.

Yes, I keep them and tend to re-use them to line my small bins if they're super market ones. If they're the good plastic bags, tend to carry my lunch to work or a book and umbrella, bottle of water or my daughter's snacks when we're on the move..anything that can't fit in my handbag really.

Hi cream97! I do keep all those plastic bags so I can reuse them on other things as well. And with the torn ones, I still use them for the garbage. I am trying to do my part in recycling and helping out mother nature somehow even in this very small way. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

I like to recycle plastic shopping bags by using them as trash can liners. After I come back from the store, I put all the plastic bags in a container in my closet and use them as I need them. :]

I keep and reuse almost all bags which come into this house. I try not to accept plastic carrier bags with my shopping as I'd rather reduce my environmental impact by using a cloth one, but sometimes my assistant has packed something before I can open my mouth! Carrier bags are really handy for all sorts of things though, so they never go in the bin. I carry a few in the car for future shopping expeditions, use them as bin liners, use them for packing veg from the garden into when I'm giving it to friends ... all sorts. I also reuse smaller plastic bags, the sort that fruit often comes in, in the kitchen. I don't buy plastic wrap, and use these to keep food fresh instead. At the moment I'm using the plastic from some big strong bags as a makeshift cold frame in the garden. Once the bags are torn and no longer useful, then I put them in the plastic recycling.

Yup. Most of the times we keep those ahopping bags/plastics from the grocery store. At home you can use it garbage bags. It could be used also when going to a fish market so you wont buy new plastic anymore.

Yes. Food shopping bags go into a bag and are reused as bin bags, so they are thrown out in the end, but reused first. Clothing bags are kept in a draw and I use them to carry stuff places like when I am sleeping around people's houses or my sister is going swimming or when I am having a tidy out of my room and put stuff in them that I am going to donate.

I do. I keep the bags from walmart or just about any store I go to. I use them for garbage bags or picking up after the dog (if there are no holes). It saves me money on buying garbage bags and it is recycling the bags. :)

Everytime I go grocery shopping, I save the plastic bags. I use it for different purposes, but mainly as a trash bag or a trash can liner. The only ones I would throw away are those that are either torn or wet or dirty. A neat thing that I used to keep them compact is those plastic bags containers that they sell, where you could put them all in, and just pull one at a time. That is how I make sure that I don't get overrun with plastic bags. I have a friend who always bring her own cloth bag to do groceries. She never asked for the plastic bags. I wished I can be like her, so green-minded, but I guess recycling the bags is my own way of at least getting the most out of them.

I now use reusable shopping bags all of the time - never accepting paper or plastic bags from retailers. I used to take plastic bags once in a while to clean my cats litter box, but now I use paper or buy the flushable litter.

I want to recycle the ones I have by cutting them and making them into beach bags for the kids to use this summer. I do loom knitting and I found instructions on properly cutting them and how to make them strong. If I don't use all of the bags, I will place them in the recycle box at the store. There are SO many that are not recycled and they do not breakdown in the landfills. I have now bought the canvas bags to take with me to the stores and just reuse them for shopping. They are cheap at only a dollar each and I have two different size bags. It cost more to make a plastic bag. I can't wait until I hit 500 and then I can copy and paste the links that give out that information. www.reuseablebags.com/facts.php should give you the facts that I am talking about.

I save a few for trash and taking my lunch to work. But the rest go in the trash. As I work at a grocery store I know cashiers hate messing with bags of any kind-LOL But it is part of the job. There are some that bring in their own to put their groceries in and I must say I like that. Not to mention is saves on trash. Plastic cannot be disposed of as easy as paper.

Yes, I do keep the plastic bags and paper bags for purposes. I use the bags as a lining for the trash cans. And I use it for packing some things. It is good that we recycle bags. We all know that plastics are non biodegradable. Plastic bag recycling can help us lessen land pollution. Paper bags are made out off trees. Recycling paper bags can save many trees. Recycling can help us maintain the balance of our ecosystem. :0)
