Now that I have finally gotten myself DSl high speed access I have found a new niche for me in my free time online. There is a site where you can download free songs by amny artists. yes free of charge. it is a shared site is what it is. You download songs others have on their puters available to use. So it's not an infringement of a copyright actually. Anyhow I now started to download a lot of songs to burn to CD's. Mostly older songs from the 50's to the 70's. I love this site. An anti virus is a good thing to have also using this site. Out of maybe 50 songs in one day that I downloaded only one was with a warning of a virus so I never started the download. it warns you of a virus or unsafe file or corrupt etc in advance. It's a safe site and my daughter has been using it for a long time also. Heres the link and enjoy. It is a free program but they do offer a PRO version. I have no idea what that is but I prefer the free one.

Congratulations on your new found hobby! LOL! 
My dad loves the songs from way back. It's not that easy looking for these songs in the record stores. Well, I do the downloading for him so he wouldn't have to go through a difficult time looking for these songs in the record stores.

But on Limewire they have a preview feature that allows you
to preview it before you downlaod it fully. I found that right away.

I love this site its so nice. Sometimes the songs arent the best quality of sound but hey its free.

The ones I've done so far are of a good quality. Of course you know the first one I did don't ya? Then I also did a lot of Suzi Quatros songs from way back. I asked mom for what she wants and she can't think. So send me some suggestions for her songs?

I agree with the last poster we all love out new "toys". This laptop I'm on is faster than my last one and really made a huge difference to getting everything done. You should see me when my cable is down now. Bob says "I'm hard to live with".

Last night being the first night that I had DSL it was time to go to bed and I felt that I couldn't as I was still on the internet. HAHAHA!

Funnily enough, I have been on the hunt for free music download sites, not so much downloads though, more just to have music to play while I am on the computer. I love some of the music from the 60s I do, both me and the hubby quite like some of the tunes that were out then.
I am not keen on the 70s but I think that some of the 50s I quite like too, so I may have to visit this site you have given!! So you are happy with your speedy internet then, well I am glad that you are happy with it! See ya later xx

Yep, we have this and had good times in downloading our favorites here. Through music and other forms of media, we get them here.
Even my friends who don't have any computers at home would ask me to download something for them, they offer to pay me for the time and effort I made (Ain't that sweet?!

lol Hate to say this, Grandpa Bob, but all you had to do was ask and I could of told you about limewire as well. I've been using it for several years now. It's an awesome site for downloading good-quality music. Hubby is always coming home with a new song he wants me to download. I'll save them on the puter till he has enough to burn to disk then that's all he will listen to in his truck. He even brought home a spindle of 100 disks so I won't run out. lol Wonder if that was an even bigger hint.

Thank you so much. Now I might be able to make a cd that my son broke when he moved me a few years ago. It was made up of songs from the year I graduated and he has promised me several times that he has a friend who can do it for me but I don't have it yet. Hopefully now I can do it myself.

Oh how this site helped me tremendously one time..I lost this CD with this music for this dance I was teaching..I had choreographed it myself years ago and did the dance, but was teaching it again to a new group..So my daughter went on limewire and got all the songs I needed to practice so I could teach it..
Yeah, Grandpa Bob, there is a lot out there plus youtube where you can view and upload videos, something you couldn't do before..
Oh my, I hope we don't loss you to these other sites, you can get lost and forget about mylot..

yes it is the best site, i used limewire for several months already after bearshare. i like them because i can find easily the song i want. millions of song on file and always updated to new song that out in the market.

Gawdddd I love DSl for this purpose. Before it would take an hour for a 3 minute song. Now I did a dozen in about 20 or less minutes.

Congratulations on the new DSL, it clearly makes a huge difference doesn't it?
As for the Limewire Pro, its not really any different. There are more storage options, and that's the major difference that you are paying for. I have well over 2500 songs on mine and no storage issues. If you plan on downloading over 10,000 songs, you might want to consider it, but I'm not even sure I know 10,000 songs off the top of my head. The thing telling you to upgrade to Pro will never go away either, it will annoy you every time you open the program.
There is also another site that you might like. Its basically a radio station that you rate songs and it makes a customized radio station based on who/what you like. Go to yahoo music and its called the Yahoo Music Player(clearly someone thought long and hard on this one).

hello grandpa. i'm glad you finally found a new hobby. music is always fun anyway. I am sooooo loving it. limewire? well, it's actually a good tool to look up songs that you want to hear. you can also look up videos and images too. sometimes movies but i haven't tried it myself. i only use limewire for searching songs that i don't have a copy and upload those to my mp4 player. be aware though that limewire can also transmit virus or spywares to your computer. so whenever you find the results while searching for a song, you might want to check those sizes. most songs would be around 2MBs and above depending on the length of the song. those so if you see some those with sizes in KB (kilobytes), you might want to ignore and not download any of those. and make sure that whenever you downloaded those results, go to your library, saved files and unshare the music you got and all those shared files in your incomplete files if there are any. :)

I am so pleased that you have found a site like this that you like AGB! I don't use them myself but my other half does and I am pleased you have a good anti-virus as some people seem to be warped and take great pleasure in sending virus to other people! Enjoy and thanks for sharing! xxx

G P Bob, Be very careful using Limewire, My hubby used to use it to download movies, he got viruses so many times, and a couple of them crashed his puter. I kept telling him it was coming from his down loading from limeware, he wouldn't believe me, until he almost lost his computer. I would hate to see that happen to you. He uses another site now, with no problems. I will ask when he gets up in the morning and get back to you. Blessings

I was using limewire too. But that was long before. One of the computers in the office was installed with limewire, I actually done the download and setting it up. But unfortunately, that said comuter with limewire was pulled-out from the office, and I don't know who is using it now.
