Going to the gym

How many days a week do you go to the gym? My husband found a weight loss program online that outlines 5 trips to the gym a week. I think that is a little too much, since we are both just starting out in our weight loss/exercise venture (me even worse than him!) I thought we should start with an hour a day, 3 days a week. I just don't want to overdo it, and either hurt myself or making the gym feel like a chore and hate going...

3 to 5 days a week will be just nice as long as u have enough time for your body to rest and recover ^_^ But for initial stage, light owrkout is recommended to get your body warmed up and get used to the weights and training.. So 2 hrs during each session is just nice and u wun over exercise too ^_^

A friend of mine and I started go to a gym in mid Feb. I have lost a little over 15lbs. We average about 3 days a week depending on kids and other impending duties. I have gone 5 days a few times. We started with 10 to 15 min intravals on the treadmill and bike. Now we do 30 to 60 on an eliptical machine along with lite weights. Going with someone has been the best thing for me. I stay away from the trainers there. Not because I think they're bad or anything but they act like they're training you for a marathon. Start out slow and work your way up.

My fiance is buying me a gym membership this week. He knows a guy who owns a gym near us so we're going to start going. I probably wouldn't want to go anymore than three times a week. Any more than that I'd wear myself out! Besides, I'd rather go walking or bike riding then walking nowhere on a treadmill however, a gym membership is just the motivation I need.

I go to the gym 3 time week. Im also into weight loss and usually start off with a minimum 15 minutes cardio workout before and after hitting the weights.I must say my routine is doing well, many of my friends notice.

You should first talk to your doctor if you are just getting started. If you can start with walking every day for 20 minutes. This is for your cardio. As for weights (free or machine) it depends on what you are doing. Single muscle groups need a chance to rest in between workouts. So if you go everyday you should only be concentrating on a single group and doing a focused routine. If you are going for a full body routine than three times a week is great using light weights to start. As for on-line programs there are all sorts of programs. If you are doing this to loose weight remember that diets DO NOT WORK! This has to be a life style change. You should be looking for something that you can live with and that can help you learn to meal plan, focus on making small changes, and establish new and healthy habits. I have some disabilities that were really hard on me including a very large weight gain. I have struggled with this issue for a long time. I do not yoyo diet but have finally gotten to the point where I am committed to getting healthy. So here are my tips and what has worked and is working for me. www.diet.com Great site with lots of meal planning assistance, nice people who are also trying to lose, coaches, receipes, tools, and assistance. Cost is $19.95 per month and well worth every penny spent! I lost 38 lbs the first go around and then had to have additional surgeries and so have been down for the count for 5 months. Am starting back up again this month. Abs Diet for Women (book available from Barnes & Nobel) lots of great advice, menu planning, exercise planning, and food grouping. Combined with the above site it is a winner. While this is a Diet it is not one that is strict or compulsory. I use it more as a food guide and it is very workable. These are really my two favorites. My husband works out with me and eats with me. Diet.com has great menu planning and receipes so he never feels deprived.

you are only sup[posed to exercise every other day so you can allow your body to relax between times. Now if you are building cardio as well then you can jog or do some things that will get your heart pumping in between. Going to the gym every day will burn you out quickly.
