I did not read the story myself, but my partner told me he heard on the news the other day that this lady saw a man (she did not know him) being attacked by a shark, she jumped in and swam towards the shark and poked the shark in the eyes. A couple of other people then also jumped in to save the man. Lucky for him, he is now alive, he was bitten twice by the shark on the leg. My question to you is, would you jump in to save a stranger from being attacked by a shark? I find this situation really hard, I would not know how I would react, as I think if I saw it I could not just stand there and watch. I don't think I would jump in, I would probably go near the shark in my boat (if I was in one) and hit the shark on the head with an oar. If on the other hand it was my children being attacked by a shark, I would risk my life and jump in there and do whatever I could to save them.

wow, what a heroic lady. frankly, I don't know if I would ever do that, but the most probably I would scream for people's help towards this case, at least screaming to attract people's attention to save this person. well unless there was no other people except me, I might do similar things but first I would grab any tool as weapons to hit the shark. but probably I would risk my life and jump in there if it was my family member. for a stranger, I wouldn't know.

Yes it would be hard to know what to do with a stranger, of course you would try and get help. But it would be a tough decision to jump in, I guess it is hard to predict unless in the situation. But that lady was indeed heroic and very brave.

I like to help people but I don't know if I would go so far as to jump in the water and try to save him. I would try to get help for him by as you say going out in a boat and doing something to the shark to get the shark away from the man. I know what I would do if it was a family member but a stranger I just couldn't predict if I would jump in the water. I would try to help in some way but being in the water with a shark I doubt if I would do that.

I totally agree, it is a huge risk jumping in with a shark. I would only be silly enough to jump in if it was my family.

If it was my own child the risks would not come into it, I would be in there like a shot, I would not even think about anything I would just react. A stranger on the other hand may well have to take their own chances, I would not be willing to risk my life for a stranger when I have my children to think of. However, when you are in a situation like that, it often happens that instinct just takes over and before you realize what you are doing you have jumped in to try to save them!!

Great response! Sometimes instinct does come into it in situations and we just respond to situations right away. I agree with you that it is too risky to jump in there for a stranger when you have your children to think about they need their mum.

it is really hard to do help specially to stranger in a very difficult situation. how about if, you are willing to help then, you don't know how to swim, that's the big problem. we can't predict what's happening in the future but if that will happen to me and i caught somebody attacked by a shark and then i have the power to kill the shark, of course i will.

That would be a problem if you don't know how to swim, then of course it would be crazy to jump in and try and save someone. You are right we can't predict the future but I was just wondering hypothetically what would you do. Sounds like you would be a hero, thanks for your repsonse.

Hi kiran! First thing, let me bow my head to that great lady who saved the life of the stranger, for her courageous and timely act. If it was in our country, she would definitely get award from Government. If i were there, i would definitely have tried my best for calling out for help and in whatever way i could. I doubt i would not have jumped, not knowing swimming. Had it been my child, definitely i would jump whetehr i know swimming or not!

Yes I agree with you she was very courageous and she does deserve a medal. I am sure the man will be forever grateful too that she was there to save his life. It seems that most people here think the same, that they would jump in to save their child but not a stranger. Of course though we would do whatever we could to help him by getting help. Thanks for sharing snakequeen, have a great day.

Hello kiran1978! Honestly, if I know how to swim and if I was trained to be a shark expert, I would jump in the water to save a stranger from being attacked by a shark and poke the shark's eye. I think the lady (who saved a man from his attacker) looks like she works as a lifeguard... Happy Mylotting!
