hi guys was just wondering with the coming of the IPL will the Test Cricket and One Day matches loose their standing? I see almost everybody talking IPL and it is also glamourised beyond limits. U can catch lot of bollywood stars and celeberities cheering from the stands. The cheerleaders is a big attraction all the commercialisation. will cricket loose its charm? it is all about money, sponsors, owner of the team.... all are enjoying the 20 over matches, short game, furious batting cricket has become fast unlike the way it is actually played? u try and hold ur wickets and slowly build your score.. will the cricketers batting style get affected bcoz of the IPL? Will they b able to sustain the pressure of 50 Overs in a one day or the gruesome 5 days of Test matches? i love one day matches personally and so i hope that it does not get affected bcoz of IPL?

I dont see how One day can lose its charm, T20 is stacked heavily in favor batsman, the bowlers have very little or no chance. Test cricket is more all about skill and technique. Even the cricketers them self agree that the satisfaction of doing well in test is way more than doing well in any other form. I think IPL is going to improve the interest in cricket

Very interesting topic. This is the question thats been bugging all cricket lovers ever since the introduction of 20-20. If I remember it correctly 20-20 cricket was introduced in England to make domestic cricket more popular. I don' think the organizers had ever imagined this rapid development of 20-20. But Test cricket and ODI have a long history of great matches and have produced some of the world's greatest sportsmen. Not to forget the big fan following both the versions of cricket enjoy. And it will take more than cheerleaders and movie stars to take that away. People who are hardcore followers of cricket will never abandon test cricket and ODI. And I think you are right, batting styles will be affected because of the fast furious nature of this type of cricket. But one can only hope that because of this sudden overdose of 20-20 both players and fans will become exhausted eventually and I am sure that players are aware that if they want to become a Gavaskar or a Border or Lara or Tendulkar Test cricket and ODI's are the only way. And as far as the charm of cricket is concerned, no worries there. Cricket was a game that was invented to live forever. And it will.

IPL will do no harm but will improve cricket. Yes it will mark my words. IPL 2020 will take cricket to places it might have not reached with its ODI format. Moreover increasing number of ODI resulted in better fielding and result oriented approach in test cricket. Similarly due to 2020 Fielding will improve more and less test matches will result in draw

I don't think that Test cricket or One day cricket will get ruined due to T-20. When ODI was introduced, people predicted end of Test cricket, but Test cricket has survived. Test cricket reinvented itself. Now the Test matches are not boring as they used to be before. Now the matches are played to win and There are very few draws. There was a Test series in which there were five matches and none of them had any result. Thanks to ODI, now we do not have to see such boring matches or series. I think Twenty-Twenty will make Test and ODI better and more results oriented. There will be new shots inveted. When T-20 started there were huge totals of 200 plus but now the bowlers have adapted themself to this format and now we rarely have 200 plus score in IPL.

I think that for the behaviour of Shreesanth and Harbhajan, our media and our arrogant captain Dhoni is to be blamed. It all started in T20 world cup last year and continued in home series against Australia. Our captain Dhoni said that "we will give Eye for an Eye" He said that we are new at sledging and we are still learning it. I dont think that we need to abuse other players to win matches. And Sreesanth had behaved badly in South Africa and England and instead of criticising him, the media was showing it as an act of heroism.

Hello nupats, I don't think like that. Because one day matches and test matches have their fans respectively. You cannot say like one day matches will kill test or t20 will kill One day matches. Every one of that is different..I think t20 may bring more people i mean new fans to cricket...isn't it? Thanks....

no, not at all my friend test cricket is the real cricket and odi may be included but ipl is just about money.yes, this is entertaining but you can't keep out odi and test.they are the heart of cricket.i think there shouldnot be any change in batting style, because due to odi there wasn't any change in batting style in tests.
