When I have a cold, which is not very often, I just take paracetomols, stronger than normal ones though, and they are pretty good for knocking it on the head. I guess that is a sort of home remedy to me as they are always in my cupboard!! I am actually hoping that I am not coming down with something myself, my chest has been hurting something raw today, and I dare not cough. I really hope that I am not because I am going away on Saturday.

I have woken up today feeling better, yippee, I am usually pretty strong in that as soon as something starts attacking me, my immune system fights it off. I cannot be sick I am too busy!! OK paracetomols are painkillers, I usually get by just taking these, but if I am getting something nasty, then I go for co codamol as they are in UK and they are just a stronger painkiller. Does not work for everyone I expect, but does the trick for me. Hope you get better fast xxx

had a friend long ago tell me to smoke pine needles to cure it. apparently they are extremely high in vitamin C.. and smoking them shortens the duration of a cold. have yet to try that remedy myself tho.. just cant get summon up the want to inhale pinesap.. ;shudders;

drink hot tea with honey and lemon! It will help clear your sinuses and soothe your throat. Unfortunately, if it is just a cold, the doctor will just tell you to take over the counter cold medicine, so you might as well save your money....

First and most important thing, Cold is viral in nature and there is no remedy in modern med against virus. Our body makes anti-bodies against viruses and it gets cured on its own. Time of cure is different in different people. You need not visit a doc for such petty things when your doc cannot do much. He will pass on a 'cetrizine' or any other anti-histamine. Take raw things esp those containing vit c like raw tomatoes, or instill salt water drops in nostrils ( make salt water drops at home, one spoon water plus a pinch of salt, heat it and use with a dropper). Salt water gargles will indirectly help.

Some colds are viral, some can be started as viral and then turn into bacterial which then needs a doctor. I should have put in my history of chronic bronchitus because it happens if the cold sits with me for more than a week. LOL!! and today I woke up and was smacked across the room by my cold it's the worst I have felt all week and now I'm barking like a dog almost .. So I now know that on monday I will be calling my doc and making sure that it doesn't turn into bronchitus becuase then I will be in his office every week until it's gone. But thanks for the information I have increased my vitamin C intake. Yum orange juice.

Well, chicken noodle soup, a couple extra hours of sleep each day, fresh air and sunshine (I work outside), gatorade, 7up, vitamin C and antihistamine pills if it is really making it difficult to breath. I hope you feel better. ((((HUGS)))) But not too close, I don't want what you got. lol

Drink lots of hot liquids. And take something for the stuffyness. And if it makes you sleepy that a good thing. The more rest you get the faster you will feel better. Feel better my friend. Big Hugs!

I have a really gross remedy but I think it works. I've seen really good outcomes with it. I had a horrible cold that would have taken me longer than two weeks to bounce back from but by taking a teaspoon of minced garlic, fresh works best, and an equal amount of honey I bounced back sooner. It's horrible to take but, like I said I think it works.

I get plenty of rest. If Im sick which I havent been in awhile. I will skip work for that day since working at a grocery store is not the best place to be when your sick. I will probally eat lots of soup during the day and drink organge juice. And take vitamin d or c one of those vitamins are good and help you not get a cold at least thats what my mom tells me.

I will drink some warm/hot tea. Or I will drink some Thera Flu. It all depends on the nature of what I have.. If it is very serious, I will go to the doctor..

Only thing I do is take Dayquil and Nyquil. Nyquil knocks me out for about 10 hours, but usually after one dose of it, I am feeling much better the next morning! I do not know of any true home remedies...medicine works for me and it keeps me out of the doctor's office!

funny, my co-worker is just getting over a really bad cold (she was off two days because of it) and still sounds bad! spring and summer colds are the worst! i usually use otc products like tylonel cold and flu to at least ease the symptoms of a cold! chicken soup helps too (or any of your favourite comfort foods)...hope you feel better real soon!
