What is the truth?

Have you asked this question to yourself? What is the REAL truth? What I mean is, does God really exist? I'm not against God but sometimes it makes me wonder if all the things I believe in is really true. We are nothing but a strand in the universe so is there really a way for man to understand what the world really is? We defy the laws of nature and answer the hardest question using science but is science enough? Some people would go for religion to understand things just to figure out that it contradicts with the laws made by sciene? So let me ask you, What is the truth?

I cannot answer you about the truth. Before although I am a straight catholic, I have always search for answers. Then I stopped, realizing that I don't have to. The feeling that there is someone who exists higher than me, someone who watches me, who listens when I talk, that feeling that... It is that feeling that makes me believe that He is there. I really don't know, but I believe His there, and for me that is what I called faith.

But don't you wonder why He gave us the intellect to search for the truth? We are humans, not monkeys that sits all day and eat bananas. We have a higher purpose and I think that is to search for the truth. Sorry for my ideas if they bother you.

I need not to. I think that believing is like loving someone. When you love someone, you dont look for reason why you love... you just love... I just believe! I don't have to look for reasons why I believe. I just believe... Simple as that... To look for things that is not meant to be seen will lead me wandering.

Doesn't bother me at all. I know where my faith rests... It is resting in God's hands.

Well, I typed out a nice long post and then my window crashed. *sigh* Basically; no one can know the whole truth of the universe now, we don't have enough information. I believe the ultimate goal of any sentient race should be to seek out the truth of the universe, but when that will be completed, how and what will happen after... I simply don't know.

One reason why universal truth is so hard to find is because: People will except any answer except the ones they don't want.

That was part of my longer post, that people are not ready to accept something new if it goes against something they believe to be a fundamental truth. I said lots... and it would have been saved if I could c&p. Honestly, 500 posts?! Surely 250 is better.

You bring up some great questions. What is the real truth is such an important question and one on many people's minds. Jesus said to his father in John 17:17: "Your word is truth." In other words, God's word, the Bible, contains this "real truth." This only makes sense does it not? God being the creator of all things, including us, has given us a guide book, the Bible. By reading and getting a good understanding of the Bible, you will find the real truth. God did not leave us in the dark. He gave us that natural longing to love and serve him, and he provided a great guide book on what he expects of us. Once you read the Bible in its entirety, you'll better understand many things. For example, you mention: "some people would go for religion to undeerstand things just to figure out that it contradicts with the laws made by science." It's probably the case with "religion", but it's not the case with the Bible. Le me give you a couple of examples I read: 1. The shape of the earth - Isaiah 40:22: "There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth." In ancient times the general opinion was that the earth was flat. It wasn't until after 200 years after that Bible text had been written that Greek philosophers began reasoning that the earth was likely round. They only began to reason. It wasn't yet believed that the earth was indeed a sphere and yet the Bible mentioned it. The Bible wasn't just scientifically correct; it was way ahead of its time. 2. Animal life - Leviticus 11:6: "The hare... is a chewer of the cud." This was, for a long time, attacked by critics, but was finally observed in the 18th century and its unusual way was described in 1940 by the Zoological Society of London. These are only a few examples showing how the Bible is scientifically accurate and way ahead of its time. It stated things we didn't even understand in science yet. Doesn't this prove the Bible comes from a higher source and we can depend on it? If you're really searching for the truth, I would suggest you begin by seriously reading the only key to opening that door: the Bible. I wish you the best with that. I've found some helpful information on better understanding the Bible here: http://www.watchtower.org

God does exist, don't you see the universe how could have it be created without a creator, such an immense, and complicated and PERFECT universe, in which everything is doing its job as given by GOD, do you think that if a small wrist watch could not be created out of no where, we humans create it so how come this huge universe.....

From my philosophy class, my professor said that religion is based on fear. We are scared that when we don't embarce the idea of God, we will go to hell. We don't want that. So we choose to believe. I'm not an atheist but I think it is just ok to think about these things. But from what my professor said, I think it is true. I'm scared, you're scared, that's why we believe in Him in the first place. Sorry if anyone if offended but that is just my idea.

I believe in God, in Christ the one who came to die for our sins. It's important to remember that God is a God of love. He should be feared, because He is omnipotent, and we're not. But when I think of fearing the Lord like it says in the bible I think of an awesome respect. But if God wanted to suppress us through fear, why would He have sent his son to die on the cross for our sins so that we could be united with him in heaven? Be certain there s a God. He s there even if we don't acknowledge Him.

Welcome to MyLot! Hope you enjoy yourself here... Anyway... You know people have been saying "it is the Endtimes!" for centuries? Peronsally, I don't think it should matter if it is the Endtimes or not. Surely we (as a species) should follow what we believe to be right all the time, and not just in the last days?

Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 - do you you more clearer answer to your question. Read the Holy Bible with a open mind and find out yourself. If you find it right follow it or else leave it... there is no compulsion whatsoever...the choice is yours.

Truth is subjective, and absolut truth is absolutly subjective. Truth can only be your experiance of the truth. I hold my truths, but they can not be conveyed to someone else. Truth is only found by one who desires the truth. That means eyes wide opened and willing to find out you have been wrong about something. Most people do not want the truth, they want to find something to afferm their prejudices.

I dont really know how to explain this but i do believe in GOD and that there is GOD and its a fact.I can not see him but yes i feel His presence in my day to day life. I owe allegiance to Him and although sometimes believes and science contrast each other, yet i dont pause to doubt the existence of God. i think its your conviction and believe to understand and convince oneself of the TRUTH that exist

Jesus said, "I amd the way and the truth and the life..." And I believe that. I have always known there was a God. It's not an understanding that is easily explained, because it's a deep down knowledge, a heart and soul knowledge, not just something with the brain. When I see the intricate life formations - ours, other animals, even plants and trees - I know that they could not have just "poofed" into existence. There was a loving Creator for each and every one. When I hear the laughter of a child, or the songs of the birds, that's more evidence to me of our loving Creator. When my son was a teen, I read Josh McDowell's book "Right From Wrong." It talks about all the absolute truths and how people are ignoring them now or pretending they don't exist. If people really believe that there is no truth, then what should follow is that there are not laws as well. For what is true and right for one may not be for another. Laws, then, become impossible to enact or to enforce.

does it matter if there's a God? If there is, surely he is all-loving, all-accepting....and if there isn't, then it doesn't matter??
