I haven't had my identity stolen, but both my dad and my best friends uncle have. My dad had a credit card stolen and didn't know it was missing for at least a month. They caught the guy quickly and everything was sorted out easily. Then my friends uncle had his debit card number recorded and stolen on a debit pad in a store. He found out later that day (it was payday) when he went to pay for something and it came up insufficient funds because the theif had drained his account at the ATM. They caught that guy that day because the ATM has a camera and he got all of his money back.

My husband and I are fighting with identy theft right now. Its HELLLL! We have been fighting for about 3 years now. We dispute the charges every time they show up on his credit report then. The credit agencys suck so they end up taking EVERY THING off his credit report which should be a good thing, but not when you need credit to get credit! We try to explain what on the credit report should be there and what shouldn't but they don't get it. We are trying to get a credit card in his name and are having a hard time because they are saying he has no credit. We have 2 car loans in his name! So although they are taking care of the problem they are making it worse.

I have something on my credit report, stating that I lived at 378 Gateway Dr... I have never lived there in all of my life.. I never thought anything of it until now... I just hope that no one has stolen my identity. When I first saw it, I thought that maybe it was an error... I am going to look into this. I am so sorry to hear that you and your husband had to go through with these crooks stealing your identity... I hope that they get caught very soon, how about right now!!!!!

It could just be as easy as disputing the address. I would try that first. They will send you a letter back saying either we have this record showing you lived at this address or they will send you a letter saying we have removed it from your credit report. Make sure to dispute it on all 3 credit burals, not just one. We know who the person is - its not technaclly identy theft because his social is just very close to my husbands only off by one number - like if my husband was: 111 22 3333 111 22 3343 that would be the guys. So its human error some one not paying attention to what they are entering and or the hand writing doesn't allow the perosn to really know its a guess. Thats why we are having so many problems. And can't do any thing to the guy. Worst part is they have the same first name too. GO FIGURE!! I don't know how in the world it happend it must be a one in a million type of thing but it sucks either way!

Hi cream97! Oh no, it never happened to me and I hope it won't ever do. I think that is kinda scary. I have heard news about that and their life has been ruined somehow. Just like for example, a man who have stolen the identity of his brother and have applied for so much loan using his brother's identity. It was found out and the man is doing his time in jail but the brother has to do so many work just to clean his name and reputation towards other credit companies. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

this was really not too bad except my name and address was taken from the internet and used to sign me up for two magazines which i had never subscribed to nor did I ever get a copy of' either one. It took a dozen letters to clear this up and finally a phone call to each company telling them I never signed for anything and that if someone else used my name they did it wrong as I never sign with just my first and last name butalso with my middle inital Patsie M hatley and they confirmed that whoever used my name did not use my middle initial.but that was my only trouble.

I think someone stole my identity and got a mortgage about ten or fifteen years ago. I just found out about it awhile back, when I had my credit checked. They told me that I had an unpaid mortgage overdue. That's funny, considering that I didn't own a house in my twenties! I guess my credit was good enough for a house, though. I wish that I'd used my good credit then to wrangle a nice house. A place of our own! That would be really nice. I hope identity theft never happens to me again. And, I hope it was just a hoax or mistake. I can only hope.
