I will probably travel without bags. It makes me think. For an extra $30 I can do laundry everyday, or buy disposable clothes. Maybe it is going to be much cheaper to take Amtrak or just travel by car. Will you pay for your language? http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1808804,00.html

dont tell me its really unfair, u mean if u r travelling by air, most of time it means u will be staying there for more than a week, and if u r on business trip, u might be carrying some samples etc, and u r not allowed to carry any weight free, Its not fair. i think all passangers should vote against it and take some action,

there is no better way to travel the country than doing it in a car, flying is too expensive plus by car you do alot of sign seeing and alot of fun stuff on the way. i always love driving, it is fun.

I don't plan on flying anytime soon. I hate flying anyway. There's no room to move and my legs start hurting if I have to sit too long. If I did have to fly I would carry as little as possible. Like you, I think its cheaper to do laundry than pay for an extra bag.

It never was a charge for luggage. Now they will charge for any bag, not just an extra bag.

The only place I would be flying is to Texas to see my mom because I only have a week and if I take the car or the train, I wouldn't have any time to spend there. I won't be taking any extra bags, that is crazy to charge an extra $30 a bag.

No I will not pay the surcharge so I will definately travel light in the future. If I fly it is usually to visit my mum anyway so I will be able to wash things there if needed. Ellie :D

I will do the same. I may get some stuff when traveling to my mother from my sister in law, so I don't have to pay an extra...

This is not something that is going to go over AT ALL... and the weight of luggage is something that is not going to help in the gas crisis. I think having a 50lb. limit is difficult (especially on international flights) with the weight of the luggage itself thesedays. If you don't have good quality strong luggage it is not going to make it. I really think the airlines are looking to cut back on labor more than anything else. Thanks Zelo

Yes, they are doing it right now. American, United and US airways are in the clan. Regardless of weight you have to pay $15 per bag. On international flights I don't take more than one luggage.

It's just ridiculous... put it in the price of the ticket and be done with it. If AA's intentions were to have everyone follow suit then everyone would have the same ticket prices. Cruises are now charging a "fuel surcharge fee". It is really getting out of hand. Zelo

I am sick with gas affecting our life. I was in Pet store and I saw one older guy crying. When I ask for the reason, he respond that pet food is so expansive, that he has a choice to feed pet or himself... I spend almost an hour writing down cheep and healthy recipes for dogs....

it depends when and where I fly to but 2 bags should be enough I don't use much make ups and hair care but if I fly to a tropical country I would probably just have 1 bag even if it's a cold country and I have to take sweaters and all I could have them washed every 2 days so why should I take more than 2 bags? I never travel abroad for business, my business is only local so that one I don't know yet

Hi polachicago! Oh, no! I have never been a light traveler. I usually have big luggages even if I will only be away for a few days. My hubby usually says that if I can carry my closet with me, i will. haha..But I guess, all will change now. I would rather carry on a few things rather than pay for a bag surcharge. I guess, I will now learn how to travel very, very light. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

I'll be traveling by plane to Florida in late-October. The airlines told me I won't have to pay the bag surcharge since I bought the ticket before the start date for the fee. I hope this doesn't change before the trip. With Amtrak, the prices are comparable to the airlines. A round-trip train ticket from Denver to Tampa starts at $446 for a regular seat. If you want a private/semi-private room on the train, it's roughly the same cost as a First Class air ticket. I've never traveled by train, so I don't know if the size/comfort of the seats are better or worse than the airlines.

hmmm, how about bus? or car? I paid about $450 for two weeks for minivan traveling from Chicago to Tampa. 3 people and 2 dogs.... And gasoline was about $200....but we could get everywhere during two weeks. With new gas prices, I have batter renting small car....
