Coincidence before I was born!

Coincidence or something else? - Photo of two grandfathers who never knew each other but whose grandchildren were best friends

Do you have amazing coincidences in your life? I am constantly surprised by the interactions which seem almost mathematically impossible, but they still happen. My wife's best friend called, quite excited, because the local newspaper had run a series of old photos from 1948 - 60 years ago - 'how we lived then' type of stuff. One of the photos was of safety officials at the local coal mine receiving some sort of award. Her grandfather was clearly shown and she was thrilled. We got a copy of this photo and to my amazement, MY paternal grandfather is standing next to hers! This was all before we were born, never mind knew each other. Stoke is a relatively small city but it's still quite a coincidence. Have you had instances of this type of chance 'meeting'?

There are many coincidences around us each and every day. I'll give you the ones about my partner and I. He is 24 years older than me, so we are both Monkeys according to the Chinese calander. He used to stand at the bus stop I rode past every day to get to school, and I would have passed him many times. My middle name is Stephanie, and his is Steven. We moved to the same housing complex within a few months, though neither wanted to be there. Ok, now I have some about my family. My birth mother and adoptive mother are 5th cousins!!!!!! lol. Though, neither knew it until I did a project at school about my family tree.

When I met my ex-husband I was aware of the fact that he had gone to the same school as me when he lived in England but he had been in Australia for many years so didn't know him. When our families were introduced to each other it turned out that when we were toddlers we used to play together in our grandparents gardens and the whole of the rest of our families did in fact know each other. That is the only one I can think of really. Everyone saw it as a sign we should be together which in a way was true as I have lovely children from the marriage but unfortunately we went are separate ways. Ellie :D

How strange, I have heard of things like that happening to people before. It has never happened to me though. I think it is funny sometimes how it seems to be a small world for say that it is so big!

I remember my mother telling me that when she met my father they were both in their thirties and it turned out that he knew most of her friends and she knew most of his friends, but the two of them had never known of each other until then.

I don't believe in coincidence. I feel that these are things that are meant to happen, therefore, no coincidence!!! :D

Yeah I have heard of this type of coincidences before. It happened to me a lot of times with friends that it seems to me a normal occurrence now hehe. I'd say it couldn't have been a chance meeting. It was meant to be.
