What happened to Saturday morning cartoons?

I remember as a child that Saturday mornings were great cartoons and we all sat and watched them. Those cartoons are gone now. Well at least good ones are gone. Where I live we don't have cable so cartoon network isn't an option but the regular tv stations now do not have good cartoons on. Do you think that it is because so many have cable and such?

I too remember sitting in front of the tv on a Saturday morning with a bowl of cereal with my sister and watching our shows. Some of them were so good! Captain Caveman and the Teenangels, The Smurfs, Scooby Doo, and the Laffalympics. I am sure there were more, but I can't remember right now. Where have all these cute shows gone?

I can't say... But I do know all they show is nothing but sports all day long, Then late in the evening, they will start to show movies or CSI or something in that manner.. It is getting to be so boring. Every Saturday, there is nothing to watch on T.V. My husband will come in the computer room just to watch a movie on the computer, because there is nothing exciting on T.V. Ain't that a crying shame? I can't wait until we get satellite, which will be very, very soon..

I think the world has gotten to be a much more complicated place where people just don't have time for Saturday morning cartoons. Also, the cartons that are popular nowadays are nothing but a bunch of lowbrow humour (if they can be called humourous) cartoons for ADULTS!!! Cartoons aren't about kids, anymore.

I use to love Saturday mornings growing up always watchind cartoons. Then when my boys were little, they still had them. We use to hang out in our jammies and watch Recess together. Now that my daughter is cartoon age, there is nothing on Saturday mornings. She just turns it to Nickolodean or Disney and watches whatever is on those channels.

I may be telling my age now but I can remember the good cartoons such as Deputy Dog and Quick Draw McGraw. You didn't have to monitor the language and contents then.

I am right there with you jrsmith. I remember those shows. I use to hate when my brother would play football on Saturday's because I had to go and missed all the cartoons. Remember HR Puff'n Stuff? Bugs Bunny and the Flintstones will always be my favorite!!!
