Many people feel that caffeine increases their mental alertness. Higher doses of caffeine can cause anxiety, dizziness, headaches, and the jitters. It can as well interfere with your normal sleep..well.. i know all about this because i was one of those coffee addicts who slept very late..when i was in high school, i was very addicted to coffee..i usually can take more than 3 glasses of coffee a day..and that's why i had this tremors and everything..fortunately, i was able to get away with it.. =)

I usually take a cup of coffee ever since I was detected with hyperthyroidism and hypertensive BP. I think 2-4 cups a day is beneficial to the body unless you have a medical condition that you must avoid uppers or anything that cause palpitation. Then, I use to have 2-3 cups a day but cut it down when I was pregnant five years ago to one cup a day and now again that I have ailments to cure.

if you drink coffee everyday, then it's not going to be beneficial for you.. especially 2-4 cups a day..that seem too much..and when you're suffering from medical condition, it's better not to drink coffee.. what you're doing right now is good, since you're avoiding coffee..prevention is better than cure! carpe diem! =)

It was in the Nescafe magazine or brochure and in some studies which tell that at least 2 cups of coffee are beneficial to our body because it has anti-oxidants. Actually, coffee has more anti-oxidants than green tea. According to my endocrinologist, I can have a cup or two but not more than two a day.

I read about that study! It said those who drank four cups or more of coffee a day had the good effects from the antioxidants! It hink onlt the decaf can be drank that much a day by most people! We had always been warned about the effects of too much coffee until now! Too confusing!

I don't drink coffee at all, in fact I don't like any hot drinks! People think that's weird. I won't even drink a cup-a-soup out of a mug BUT I will have it in a bowl... perhaps if I had coffee in a bowl I might decide I like it :P

Hi There, I would say that I am certainly a coffee addict. I have two extra large coffee to start everyday. I usually do not have any more coffee after this point. If I do not have tose coffee first thing in the morning I get headaches and am very dozey all day. Likewise, if I have any in the afternoon it makes me jittery and I will not be able to sleep that night. Overall...I love coffee. cheers,

yeah, u seem to really love coffee ah..well, cheers! but as of now, i'm kinda avoiding it.. study shows that if you drink coffee later than 6pm, you will not be able to sleep at night. and yah, that's totally true.. so better drink coffee before 6pm.. well.. i guess you should start minimizing drinking coffee now.. you may not see the negative effects as of now, but later in your life, you can feel it.. but i do understand y you really love coffee.. there's this kind of aroma in it that is kinda irresistible.. but again, prevention is better than cure.. =)

I don't take any caffeine. I don't like the taste. And when i know this stuff does harm to my health, i am even more to evade it. There is a saying goes like this: if you take 24 cups of coffee a day, you'll die. I don't know if it is true. But i think you should get rid of that stuff because of all the bad effect it brings to you! Take care!

i respect your opinion.. not everybody loves to drink coffee or any beverage with caffeine..and yah, caffeine has a lot of negative effects..maybe, it can help you in one way or another but you can't help it, there are still these bad effects.. as i've said, i already get rid of drinking coffee..(as of now)..my boyfriend is always telling me to stop..so i have to stop..hmm..i guess if not for him, i wouldn't stop drinking coffee.. as u know, i'm really an addict when it comes to coffee..but, i realized that i should stop.. tanx for advice. take care too! =)

I drink about a pot (10 cup pot) a day. I also drink about 5 cans or more of soda a day. I guess I pretty much live on caffeine, but while I was in college full time, I worked full time and had three children at home all while being single. I had a few hours of sleep a night and that is the only way I was able to make it through the day. Now, since I have finished school, I am still addicted but do not have any side effects from it.

Coffee and Mylot - I love coffee, I love Mylot so bring them together and you got one great cup of fun
I am down to about one cup of coffee a day. I use to drink about 3 to 5 cups a day because I was so tired and it completely would affect my sleep, NOw I am more under control but I still need to cut down too. I also would drink a lot of pepsi and though it is a treat for me now, I have completely given it up. I have lost 10 lbs because of it. I am trying to stay away from the Hydro sugar that is a liquid that they put in the colas, so I switched to diet which I do not like as much so I drink a lot less of it. I maybe drink one diet coke a week....when I use to drink 3 pepsi's a day on top of my 2 coffees a day....now I am down to 1 diet coke a week and one cup of coffee a day so I am doing a ton better. Slowly as things start to get better with my kids sleeping (Mostly my youngest) I am sure that I will be able to give up the coffee too, but that will be hard, I love the taste of coffee.

I have huge problems with getting up in the morning for school because I am naturally not a morning person and so I have found that coffee helps this enourmously. I take a flask with me to school and drink it before the day starts. If I get to sleep in late, like in the holidays, I can get away with not drinking coffee but I tend to drink it anyway because I like it.

My real problem is that I drink my coffee first thing in the morning (partly because it is hot and I am cold) and so when it gets to the later lessons in the day I don't have any left. Actually, I have been reading a bit on the Internet and I have quite a few symptoms of narcolepsy. I find this a bit worrying but at least I can still function when I have coffee.

i limit my coffee up to 2 cups a day.drinking much lead me to palpitation. & ive read that caffein has an effect on fertility on woman.
• Philippines
27 May 08
most studies found that moderate intake of caffeine does not affect fertility or increase the chance of miscarriage..some studies did find a relationship between caffeine intake and fertility. HOwever, most of the studies were judged to be inadequate because they did not consider other lifestyle factors that could contribute to infertility.. if drinking coffee can cause you palpitations, then i suggest that you should stop drinking. =)

each of us has its own taste buds..and for some,(like me), loves drinking coffee because of its aroma and taste..and most often the not, we drink coffee for some purpose..like, we have to stay awake for a night.. i know coffee is not the only beverage for you to stay awake..there are also other beverages to choose from.. but i prefer coffee (especially hot coffee)..since it contains antioxidants which help remove cancer cells.. as of now, i drink coffee with a purpose.. but if you don't like it, well that's ok..i also drink coca cola too.. =)

wel im a coffee addict too. it is not that bad since it contains antioxidants that prevents one from cancer and other grave diseases. it's just that you have to control yourself from taking it, must be only in minimal amount. i choose coffee now those brands that have other ingredients in it, usually coffees with superb herbs. im currently taking one of them now.it lessens my asthma too.im glad i found it. maybe you try it.

i agree with you.. i had read so many articles about coffee containing antioxidants which are good to our body.. good thing it has its advantage.. i also agree with you about controlling the intake.. too much of everything is bad..so better control it.. =)

for some, they only drink coffee not because of its taste and aroma, but because they wanted to stay awake the whole time..which is also quite reasonable enough. (i guess)

It is true caffeine remains active for even 12 hours or more, so if to take coffee in afternoon, it can cause fragile sleep at night. I know that, but I still take 1-2 cups of coffe per day, and often in the afternoon. I just like the tast of coffee and all this process, and maybe it is something about the caffeine, too!

I take in three or four 16oz cups each day. When I went for my evaluation they told me I had adult ADD (attention deficit disorder) and that I was self medicating myself with the coffee. :) This is because they treat ADD with a stimulant and coffee is also a stimulant. It helps the brains of us ADD'ers to focus better. I'll keep drinking it until they start my treatment. Or knowing me, I'll keep drinking it anyway. I always drank coffee from my early twenties and now I'm 40. So I'm pretty used to having it, although I wish I could give it up for the taste of something different. ;)

I don't drink much caffeine. :) I'l have a Coca-Cola every once in a while, but it's definitely not part of my life. My boyfriend used to drink soda chock full of caffeine every day but I'm trying to have him cut down. ^_^; His heart beats so fast compared to mine. Thankfully, he seems like a calmer, happier person nowadays. And I still take him to Starbucks and buy him a coffee every now and then too. :)

good for the both of you.. you should limit your coffee intake.. in my case, it's my boyfriend who always discourage me to drink coffee..that's why now, i'm not that coffee addict anymore. sometimes, i can't control myself, i drink. but not that much.. =)
