My mom just told me that the government is closing down all chat rooms, myspace and alike place on the internet because there has been some inappropiate people have been in those places.Has anyone else heard this? In that case all public school's,churches, stores, restaurant's,banks, bars, everywhere should be shut down. These inappropiate people work and live somewhere. You here about it everyday on the news.

They are not being closed but they are being censored alot and watching for minors with adult profiles, they are going to be banned if they get caught.parents are going to have to sign for there minors to have a myspace or facebook account along with others for too many minors are saying they are 18 and this is having predators watching there profile, x rated pictures will be deleted and the 2nd warning will result is suspension of account and ip numbers. This is a good decision being made by the government for these place attract alot of pedifilers and alot of the young girls are searching older men and giving personal information which is causeing many problems, this is for your own safety and with the parents don't being around all the time they can not sensor what there kids are doing online/.

I haven't heard about this yet. I don't think it wold be right to do this and I don't think it would work anyway. People like that are everywhere and shutting down social sites are not going to stop them. I just don't see how it's possible.

I don't think the government can legally do that in the United States. I think it would infringe on our constitutional rights to freedom of speech, the press, and the right of assembly. So, I don't think this is really true, at least in the United States. It's entirely possible that the government keeps tabs on some of these places for certain activities, but I don't think they would be able to legally shut it down. Now, in other countries, I can see them doing that.

The only thing that I have heard recently, is about sites like, Myspace and Utube. I heard that they have been closely monitoring these sites because there has been alot of bulyying on these sites and they are a bad influence on the younger generation and there are alot of stalking people there too, who claim to be a different age and such.

No, I haven't heard anything about this. And you are right that inappropriate people are everywhere and we just have to be careful off line as well as online for these type of people.

Yes,and that is part of the reason that I homeschool my daughter, rarely let her sleepover at people's house's and go places without me or someone that Iam close to.You never know who you can trust anymore. My boys are adults and I told them if there was a problem and I was not around tell a teacher, pastor or policeman. But,I cannot tell my 11 year old daughter that and my boys know that you cannot trust a lot of people. It's sad and I know that's not what God wants.

i haven't heard about it, but i don't think anyone government can close down a site such as myspace which operates worldwide and besides this would mean almost closing 80 percent of the internet!

I would assume these are all rumors, as I have heard nothing to this sort yet, and I am online all of the time, and belong to a Good Social Networking site as well. I do not think anyone could ever close all of these sites down. They might require stricter rules for most of them, but that is about all.

I have not heard that, but that does not mean that it isn't true. I don't know exactly what that is going to do, they will just go somewhere else.

i don't see how they could enforce that-it'd be like torrent sites, they could shut down the majors, but more would pop up. i did hear they're trying to make minors joining harder for things like myspace though.

If this is true i didn't now that the government had that type of power to do something like that where the internet is concerned. If they do anything they will start having people watch more of what is posted and make sure that it is not give people the wrong idea.

I have fiound that the government will find any loop hole that they can to do whatever they want. The government is the power here. But,in the long run they will all find that the power is God!

That's right, you hear alot about preachers that have molested kids. There was this one true story I heard where a man and a woman were going to the same church and they fell in love and got married. She got AIDS from him.It turns out that he was bi-sexuel and joined a church to find a virgin to marry. You never know who to trust.
