H2O is water. This is the chemical formula indicating that a water molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms bonded to a single oxygen atom. To be totally honest, it is the most highly recognisable chemical formula in the world (or it should be!).

Hey zaghman welcome to mylot. And to answer your question H2O is the scientific term for water. It consists of two hydrogen atoms that bond with one oxygen atom. I thought everyone knew that. ^_^

LOL...You are funny. As the previous responses would have probably explained that is the chemical symbol of water. Was the question raised as an honest desire to know or just to whine about the fact that you are required to learn them in school? I know, sometimes, we wonder if the things we are required to learn are really useful, but hey sometimes you just don't know..so just keep on learning.

H2O is water. It's a combination of hydrogen and oxygen and the H2O is the chemical symbol for it.

Two molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of oxygen combined them to form water.
