I used to have a good batch of sour dough starter going on, used it for more than 2 yrs. Made delicious waffles, pancakes, and biscuts. Have you ever done any of this?

it wasn't sour dough, but i used to make "Amish friendship bread" starter dough, but every time i made it, it made 5 batches, you were supposed to give the batches to your friends, but they started to get as tired of making it as i did. i started freezing the batches but then my freezer started filling up with it, so i just gave up. anyways, they have sour dough starter dough recipes at www.recipezaar.com i looked it up once (love sour dough) but the way i see it, it's easier to go buy a loaf.

Actually I just kept mine on the couter and use it when I felt like it. At first it was a hassle but as I used it more and more (like anythingh else) it became easier. the thing I liked most was it wasn't like a fad, I'd use it when ever!

yeah, the one i was making was on a timeline, you had to do things on certain days for like 6 days. that's why i started freezing it to stop the process, but after you make it so many ways it starts to get kind of tiresome. i know sour dough is different and can last for years b4 you have to work with it. but to get the actual starter dough seemed too complicated to me.

I don't have any starter right now, but I've used it in the past for loaf bread, biscuits, and cookies. I love the flavor it gives... I should start some more, but I don't bake as much as I used to.
