Good driving for a NISSAN Terrano Automatic transmission

i have a Nissan Terrano 3rm of 1992.Automatictic transmission i want to know the best driving method of the vehicle ie..at what point i have to drive at D.mode or 2mode or 1......also how best should i use OD/OFF or OD/ON the range of speed to switch off overdrive or switch on overdrive
