How would you react when your friend tells a lie just for a joke?

In my case, of course I will be upset!!! Specially if I have done a great preparation because I believe her/his story. There are people who tell lies for a joke specially when you are friends. It happened to me before. My friend is fond of making jokes. He told me that I have to prepare because we were invited by another friend to go out for some fun. I was so excited preparing for the event, when I am ready to go.. he said,no.. he is just joking. I almost hit him because I'm upset of what he did.
Did similar thing happen to you? How did you react to the situation? Oh!! for me, it;s not an easy joke!! he should learn a lesson from it.
Just want to hear your ideas.

My friends know better than to lie to me whether it's a joke or not. They know that that kind of joke is not funny, and that if they were to lie to me as a joke or not, I would no longer be their friends. This is the way I'd expect them to be were I to turn around and do the same thing to them, and we all know it.

Well.if i were you .i must be upset.When i ready she just said it was jusk a joke.i went mad.Joke is not like that.it is supposed to let us laugh out loud.not just disappoint us let us down.right?
I just can't accept when my friends tell me something just for making fun when i were seriously.
