Cyrus(Buket)Yazdani. A 24 year old, San Jose State University graduate. Yes that is right, he earned a degree in art and works in Las Vegas. The problem is what he was doing in his free time here in Los Angeles. "Buket" is being called one of the must prolific taggers(graffiti artist) in history. He has done some $150.000 in damage on bridges, buses, building and other sites in the local area. Then he had the dumb nerve to post himself on Youtube.com while doing his handy work on an M.T.A bus in broad daylight. The video got 170,000 views. So I guess you could say he basically turned himself in. I do not know about anyone else, but if this was my son, I would disown him right after knocking him upside his head. How would you react if this was your child? http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-buket28-2008may28,0,1408349.story

I went to the news piece and read what was written and I really don’t know how to respond to this maniac display of creativity and resulting public outrage. One one hand, what this guy’s been doing is certainly wrong, defacing public property and such. But the way its being mentiond as ‘Buket’s work’…’Buket’s art’ etc I think very soon there will be some other nerd who will start commercializing this guy’s twisted talents and very soon we may actually have people queing up and paying ransoms to own a Buket scrawl. Anything can happen in today’s world, I am not surprised any more. Now if he was my son, I wouldn’t really know what to do apart from of course boxing his ears for dirtying anything which is clean.

I think for anyone to put any kind of value on what he has done, they would have to be much sicker than him. I have lived in Los Angeles a big part of my life. Not only is it upsetting to see a building that has been tagged right after the old tags have been freshly painted over, but it is down right frightening and unsettling to know that gangsters have been in your neighborhood. Not all taggers are gangsters, but all gangsters are taggers. They are proud of that mess and also use it as a method of intimidation. When you have lived with that stuff and not been for it, the last thing you ever want to do is glorify it.
