McClellan's Book about President Bush's Administration and Washington.....

Washington says that there is no truth to the book, but then that is to be expected. McClellan says otherwise and only confirms our worst fears about President Bush and the mess Washington has become during his terms in office. So, do you think that McClellan's take on the Bush Administration is accurate or just taking punches at the president? What about the timing of the release - the 2008 Presidential election is just around the corner and Bush is still in office...do you think the book will affect the upcoming election?

I think it's most likley accurate, in fact he probably held back and could've told us more. I think releasing it at this time wasn't an issue and not planned to harm the chances of the party. Thier allready toast!

I have to agree with you! I would like to get a copy of the book and read it as soon as it is available. I have been trying to find it online early, but so far no luck!

As more comes to light, like his mother being a heavey weight in TX. politics and his brother also a Bush cronie. Methinks it's more true than ever. I expect with in the next 5 yrs, there'll be alot more defectors?

I feel that McClellan is trying to distance himself from the Bush administration and hoping for a position in the next administration, whomever it may be. He is taking pot-shots and trying to secure a future for himself. I believe what President Bush did for the country in taking out Sadaam in the Iraq war was based on the best intel he could get and still feel confident he was doing what he could to keep the country safe after 9/11. Any sort of bad mouthing of a political party, especially being a person who has worked closely to the President, has the potential toaffect an election.

That could be true. I had not thought about that, but you have got a point. Perhaps he has more to gain from this book than money.

From what they're saying on TV even as I type this, there really isn't much in this book that we haven't heard before but this book, written by the former White House Press Secretary surely reinforces what we already knew. As to whether this book will affect the election, I can't imagine there still being anyone who doesn't already know we were lied to leading up to the war and that this Administration is corrupt and incompetent beyond words but I know they still exist but maybe hearing it from the "horse's mouth" since McClellan was part of Bush's Texas gang will open some closed eyes and minds. I sure hope so at least! Annie

Yes you are right. I would like to get a copy of the book and read it myself - not just hear about it in the news. What I meant by affecting the elections is the fact that so many of McCain's plans mirror (or are very similar to) the Bush Administration's failed policies. I just wonder if it will hurt his chances in November. I would rather see a Dem get in even before this book came out, but I wonder if it will make some think twice about voting for McCain.

This one really seems to have brought out the Republican spin-doctors. Confirmation from an insider of many of the accusations leveled at this administration. The 'not the Scott we knew' line is quite amusing, really. As though he's been got at, brain washed, or whatever. How about his conscience got the better of any sense of loyalty, and he's telling the truth? I think this book undermines the war in Iraq even further, and so undermines McCain's campaign. Hopefully it will send a few more the Dems way.

Yes, I believe you are quite right. And I must say it is about time the truth came out!
