Have you tried your ink cartridges refilled?

Well, have you? I'm kinda scared to have ours refilled. I'm scared it might ruin the printer. Any computer experts here? Can you give out advices? I'm considering it because inks are so expensive! Any thoughts on this?

There are quite a few printers out there that can handle refilled ink cartridges. Based on experience, Epson printers do not go well with it. I've had 3 Ink Jet Epson printers that got ruined (alignment, uneven prints, critical errors that were not fixed). And sometimes, Epson's status monitor won't be accurate anymore in showing how much more ink you have. So far, HP and Canon printers have been performing well with refilled inks. Accurate ink measurement, same print quality as original cartridges. One thing to note though, using ink refills will void warranties. Although I've had good experiences with these printers, it's still not an assurance and damage to printers can't be handled by warranty anymore. Just a tip. What printer do you have?

To be honest, I haven't had any experience with a Lexmark printer. However, as with any other printer, it may still damage your printer. However, there must be some quality ink cartridges (refilled) that at the least lessens the risk of the printer being damaged. Ink For Less? Not sure if it would be ok for your printer. That's what I'm using on my Canon.

I've had good luck with it in the past. I usually didn't have a spare sitting around, so I would often just buy them already refilled from a company online that sells them, about half the price of a new cartridge. I have tried to refill my one once or twice and made a mess, but it worked ok. Right now I'm considering trying to collect used cartridges and sell them for a profit. I started a discussion about this just yesterday, and already found a company online that pays a decent price for the used ones, so they can be refilled and sold again. My profile has more info, if you're interested.

It is a fairly popular practice here in the United Kingdom, but it is one that I have always avoided. The cost of bottles of ink compared to cartridges is very cheap, but I am always concerned about the risk of spilling ink or creating a great mess. I do buy compatable ink cartridges, which are cheap enough to make printing a viable proposition.

Hi there Vianne! I have been having pur ink cartridges refilled all the time. We own an internet cafe and we won't make any profit if we;ll be using original ink all the time. So far, all it damaged are the artridges but that's after a year of monthly refilling. I think that I saved a reasonable amount of money compared to buying a new original one everytime I ran out of ink.

ink cartridges - ink refiller
i had tried and had it refilled in an ink station..it runs smoothly, except that, the printer indicator in the computer is having an error on identifying the ink level if it is full or empty..that's what i had observed. happy posting!

I am not such an expert, but as far as I know and as far as I heard from people whom I trust in this, cause they are in this refill business since years, there is no problem refiling the cartridges. And you definitely save a ot of money. Just whet I didn't like when refilling cartridges was the mess you had, when you spilled the ink and the messy fingers afterwards.

No I haven't because I have been using a laser printer for years and it uses toner cartridges. However, I have friends who do that regularly. I think it is important to find ink that is reliable. Some ink just cannot make it.

I think we did it once, and it was okay. It functioned very well and it was really cheap. I think it was best alternative when your in a tight budget. But between the two, I'll still choose to buy new ink. :D

A lot of people use cartridge refills because they are heaps cheaper. There are various companies that offer these and I have not heard of anyone having a problem. Some refills don't last as long as genuine but this is offset by the cheaper price.

I have refill a few time before, and everything is ok, just...the more time I refill, the faster the ink running out. but it's good to not refill, cause sometime will cause problem, cause ink can dry up when open to air, and when you refill, that might cause come clutter.

Its ok to have your ink refilled specially if you are on a tight budget but you do have to consider the condition of the cartridge. Cartridges should only be refilled once to protect your printer from ink leakage which causes a lot of problem to your printer. :)

Hey Vianneyanzu, I have done it several times. I wind up having to refill them sometimes as I print out our CD covers. It cut some of the costs down. But you can still get the Photo quality that your looking for as well. After about 3 ore 4 times of doing this though the quality will start reducing. I hope this helps. Dan
