Do you look in the coffin during funerals?

do you? or don't you? I asked this because I know a few who never look in the coffin to see the one who passed away. Even if it's somebody from their family (e.g. Grandparents) I asked them why, they told me that they were scared... I don't have any problems looking in the coffin... How about you? P.S. This discussion meant no offense, I'm just curious if people look or not...

I don't think there is a reason to get scared of if someone you know and you are close with passed away and look at them for the last time through a coffin. I know and it's understandable some people get scared. But I don't see it that way. For me it's more emotional, cause I wouldn't see the person anymore.

It doesn't bother me to look into the coffin. The only reason it would bother me is that the vision of that person in the coffin is not how I would want to remember them. Both my parents are gone and my memory of them is when they were alive, certain events and how they were when we interacted. I miss them but do not think about them in the coffin.

I look and if its a family member I kiss them on the forehead some people think its gross but its still my family members body I am kissing goodbye. My grandmother didn't look anything like herself. It does give some people nightmares but I get creepy thinking about the grave site when I went there was a roach crawling out of one of the sites. We live in New Orleans so we have to bury above ground anyway just to think about your bones lying there and roach crawling through your eyeball part of your skull gives me the creeps lol. I think I want my remains burned.

One part of me feels scary but the curious part of me always wants to see the face of the person in the coffin. I would do this when 2 or 3 people are also watching beside me hehe. I can't bear to look at it by myself. Two of my grandpas have passed away many years ago and it didn't really scare me because they were my relatives and I grew up with them living with them for years. I usually observe the expression on the face. Not that they can form expressions but I hear my relatives and some friends say "oh he looks like he's just sleeping" or the like.

Usually, I look into the coffin if it is a relative. It is scary to know that a person is already sleeping permanently. But if it's another person or a friend of a friend of a friend, I just look at the picture.

I am not afraid to look at coffins. If they are my friends or relatives. The last time I did was when my mother passed away last year...

If the person is a relative or friend, I look into the coffin but just a sec. Sometimes it scares me too.
