We went to one yesterday and got a whole lot of produce to can. We saved a bundle on how much it would have cost in the grocery store. We got beans, canteloupe, new potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, jalapenos, green tomatoes (a whole case), and garlic. I love going to farmers markets to get produce it is so much more affordable and fresher than the stores. So do you go to them?

I love farmers markets! Not only it is a great deal but it is actually fresh! With fuel cost going up (and up and up) I am trying to think of other ways to make this work: like going to farmers markets! I have also fired up my large chest freezer, visiting the 'day old' bread store, joining a club warehouse and joing up with other to get half of organic cows. What else do you do to save money?

We are canning our food to have for later, we have replaced almost all of our lightbulbs with the energy effecient ones (this really does work), Growing some of our food. Wish I had some one to go into with here to buy a pig and a cow to butcher but don't even know if that is available here.

i try to go as often as i can, i have several in my area, i like to take my daughter when i go she goes crazy picking out fruits and veggis, i like getting the pruduce from them sometimes, becaue when you go to the supermarket the apples sometimes are damaged and the oranges are not good at times, this has happened to me and i dont like it cuz i have to double spend to get more fruits.

We don't really have them here, but we're lucky in that the local stores stock mainly local produce. When I go to the market, I make a point of using a lady who sells on behalf of a handful of local small producers. The produce is normally top class, and I'm glad to see my money stay within the community.
