I love Europe for several different reasons. The first place I went to was Paris. It was a whirlwind Memorial Day weekend trip, but I saw so much! My favorite part of the city was the Latin Quarter - I absolutely LOVED that they didn't feel the need to tear down 1000 year old buildings and replace them with modern monstrosities. There was just so much PERSONALITY there!! And, the people were very nice - I've heard it said that the French are rude, but I didn't find that there. Some were maybe a bit more standoffish, but rude? I didn't see it. I find MORE people rude here in the States on any given day than I ever saw there. No one felt compelled to make comments about people they saw on the street who didn't conform to their idea of dress, behavior, whatever. In the US - people go out of their way to tell complete strangers what they think - if it were only nice things, I don't think it would be an issue. But, they'll tell people that they are dressed wrong, aren't speaking properly (or English), are displaying inappropriate social behaviors (even when no one else has noticed). That bothers me so much!! But, not in Paris. Live and let live - and all is well. The overall atmosphere of the city is so different than any city I have ever been in here. I'm sorry, all of you who are also US citizens, but our own people can be so darned arrogant and snobbish! I found the opposite over there. Even in Germany - where there is maybe a bit more tendency to be "orderly" (for lack of a better phrase), I found antiquities to be considered assets that should be preserved. I loved the whole feeling when I was there. I never felt like a "stranger in a strange land." I hope I can go back to Europe again soon!

I would love to go to Jamaica! And, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Bermuda, Turks and Caico, Curacao, Trinidad, Aruba - all of them!!! I lived in Venezuela when I was a child and I just LOVED the Caribbean - the water was so clear blue and clean, the people there so friendly and warm (criminals aside), and the entire nation just clean and beautiful!! I would definitely prefer our Caribbean sites to going to Hawaii.

I am interested in meeting the local people, watching the native animals, seeing fasinating sites and having an adventure. I adore going to a tropical beach with gently waving palm trees, a golden sand and a blue ocean. I love to go snorkeling to see colorful coral and beautiful fish. I like to go walking along coastal or country paths, see great views, take photos and climb up mountains. Typically on a trip I go to at least five different places, flying into an airport and then traveling around on local buses and trains. I think that it is the scenery that I am most interested in and I treasure all my travel photos of the many different countries that I have been to. In 2007 I went to Portugal, in 2006 I went to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Bulgaria and Romania. In 2005 I went to the Maldives, in 2004 I went to Turkey, Belgium and the Seychelles. In 2003 I went to Croatia, Montenego and Slovakia. I went on a long trip that began in 2001 and ended in 2002 and on that I went to the USA, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, New Zealand and Samoa. In 2000 I went to Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. In the years before that I did lots more traveling, including an around the world trip that began in 1993 and ended in 1994.
