Question for Dog Lovers

This is a question for all you dog lovers...I have seen hundreds of websites and blogs that are about dogs. Most of them ask you to help save the dogs or adopt a dog or give money to save/help the dogs. What I would like to know is why do people put dogs above another human being? I have never come across any website or blog that even mentioned the need to help people who have been abandoned or need medical attention. Not even one that would even dare to ask for help for our veterans of war...do dogs or other animals come before our fellow man? Why?

I agree. Humans should come first. On this subject, have you seen the TV commercial with Sarah McGloflin (spelling?) asking for money for the ASPCA? The animals all look so pitiful! Well anyway, when I took my animals to the SPCA last month for their annual shots, there was a HUGE sign. The sign said: "DO NOT give to the ASPCA unless you are sure that you want to donate to New York. ASPCA is New York only. If you want to donate to your local SPCA, donate here." I watched the commercial again and paid really close attention to it. Nowhere on the commercial does it say New York only. What a freaking scam!

Well, if you think about it for a bit, animals are always innocent. They don't rely on anything other than pure instinct. It's not their fault that they don't have a nice home or a master. Instead, homeless people always have an alternative. They can always think for themselves. Anyway, about the war veterans or abandoned children, I totally agree with you. If they are incapacitated or cannot think for themselves, they should be helped too. But you've got to see the big picture, where most people on the street, stay there because they are too lazy to work, or because they like that lifestyle, animals on the other side, always try their best to please you...

Evidently you have never talked to a person who has become homeless through no falt of their own. Someone who has lost everything and has no way to even get a job....Some of them are people who have degrees, had high office positions were lawyers, teachers or professors. It has nothing to do with thinking. If it had not been for my sons friend I would have been one of those people looking for help and without an address you can't even apply for help. I lost my home, my car and everything except a few pieces of furniture, wet clothing and what I could salvage from my kitchen when we got hit by three hurricanes and 2 tornadoes all within 3 weeks. The insurance company went bankrupt so most of us in my area never got any money to rebuild or repair. Some got a few hundred from FEMA but that was for rent of a hotel room...How could these people go to work without clothes, transportation or food. Most of their savings was used up before they even got a check from FEMA. Most was spent on food and clothing for their children. What little money finally did come was more than 6 months late. How would you have survived for 6 months with nothing? Thinking doesn't pay for a roof over your head nor for food for your family. Please tell me what alternative these people have so I can tell them, I'm sure they would like to know.

I think it is easier. We don't have to look at ourselves in helping an animal. Not in the same way we would for helping a person. There but for the grace go any of us.

Yeah, you are right!I think maybe many of the person are still don't think the friends here are real friends and they still cann't believe each other. So they won't ask for help for human being.

I don't know I guess that maybe some people prefer animals to humans. Or maybe they believe that animals are helpless and humans simply are not. Besides most people especially Americans do not like to think of how their veterans coming home from war missing limbs and having mental issues. That is the reason that I believe some people care more about animals than humans.

Different people value different things. I think a "developed" country as great as our should help the homeless. We are one of the few developed countries which do not provide health care for our citizens. Kind of irks me sometimes when I see people who need help and then hear we are sending billions in aid to another country, but it is what it is. It will stay that way until the middle class and those and in poverty organize themselves and change things. It takes money to organize things so it's kind of like a dog chasing it's tail. That's why the top 5% make the money and the laws while the rest of us try to make ends meet. It's also why some people fail to make ends meet and end up on the street. It's a disgrace.

Dogs give a different kind of love, no matter how much you shove them away.. they'll always come back and never leave you, their love for their masters never change. They don't ask much and for most people even if they don't know it they all want to be needed in some way and dogs need to be cared for and most of all be loved! your dogs will never leave you no matter how broke you get or will ever complain if you don't give them what they want. I don't usually talk like this but since you called out for dog lovers for this kind of topic I got all pumped up and emotional... I just can't imagine my life without my best doggy friend! I'm just gonna share something ok! when i cry coz of movies and my dog sees me she'll go to my lap and look at me this way! i just love her! she gives me that warm feeling!
