I am just curious about who here write a diary. What you write? all the things that happen with you day by day? or only the important ones? What is the feeling to have a diary?

I feel diaries are important. I write in mine as often as I think to or have something to say. I put in my feelings, what I've done that day, things that have happened, and what's been said to me or others sometimes. Diaries will be a good way for our family, husband/spouse, children, and grandchildren to know what we felt and different things about us so hopefully they will understand why we are the way we are. Also important information about the family is usually in it and this info hepls them with things. If you put in it that you were sick and why or Aunt Jo has cancer, etc. They will have a slight family medical history. These are important at given times for all family members. When I pass on they will have a good bit of information on the family and my feelings.

I used to keep a diary in my early teens, I read the diary of Anne Frank and that got me started. I did keep my diary going for a couple of years and lost the will after I caught a so so best friend reading it. After that I couldn't write as I laways felt someone was looking over my shoulder! I did try again a few years ago, but with four children etc after a couple of months I got so far behing i gave up. I do keep thinking I should start writing a menory book as there is only me who knows lots of things I would like my children to know one day. A couple of years ago I got my three little children to write in a diary everyday. (they are now 10 and 8 and 8). They did write most days up to about April when they got fed up!! I brought a diary to put in my bag as my eldest has now left home and does shift work, thought it would be god to put her shifts in it and the children's activites.... but I gave up, tend to use my brain. I normally work on days rather than dates. so I could tell you what I am going to be doing on Tuesday in three weeks time but not have a clue about hte date

When I was in junior high and high school I used to keep one; it was a file that I would type on my computer nightly, mostly to wind down my days and to keep logs of what went on. Somedays, there was a lot of inportant stuff on those pages; other days I was just shooting the breeze with random stuff. It's funny, I've spent time looking back on it and it's amazing some of the things that went on during my life; some of the small things I made into big things, and some of the big events that shaped my life. It's nice to have that ability to look back sometimes!
