Democrat Climate Bill is DOA for now...

The Lieberman-Warner climate bill has been pulled from consideration for now after the democrats were unable to break a republican filibuster against it. This is very good news as it would have raised the price of gas by about $.50 a gallon, and resulted in higher heating and energy costs as well as hurting manufacturing which would have resulted in more lost jobs, higher taxes and more damage to the economy. Since there has been no global warming since 1998, and since CO2 has been largely discounted in it's relevance to global warming, it is just as well that this useless piece of legislation has been pulled. Here is the link to the story... http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=131114 So what do you think, was this good news or bad news? Is stopping climate change worth $.50 a gallon and screwing up the economy even worse, or should we wait and do more research before taking action on a theory that looks like it is in error?

You are of course correct that this bill was a bad thing and it is a good thing it was stopped. However, that will not stop democrats from claiming the republicans don't care about the planet and just are being greedy and short sighted.

Oh absolutely. For them to do anything else would probably be too shocking to bear...

Let us not forget what this shame was going to do to electricity. Lieberman-Warner was going to force electricity to be generated from natural gas instead of coal. Coal to electricity cost on average 7 cents a kilowatt. Natural gas to electricity cost on average 11 cents a kilowatt. For every thousand kilowatts that would be an increase of 40 dollars. The average houses uses a thousand kilowatt a month, so the average household would see an increase of 40 dollars a month. Manufacturers use alot more electricity than we do. Manufactures will have to pay 20% more in electricity. That mean everything made in America will go up by 20%. The low number is that this bill will cost America 4 million job. I bet if this bill would run off more than 4 million. Even if it creates any of those mythical "Green" jobs, there would not be any offset. All the Democrats are waiting for is after the 08 election. McCain and Obama want this, and Democrats will probably gain seats. So it might just be a waiting game.

I may be just a waiting game, however there are some new problems as well. Global warming seems to have ended, and to top that off, CO2 is being discounted as a real contributor to climate change. I read the EPA analysis of this bill, and according to that, this bill was not even going to come close to the desired goals, which would in effect make it a waste of money, and nothing more than a way to institute a cap and trade scheme that would only benefit anyone involved in the carbon trading scam. Hopefully the science will be in to completely blow man made global warming and climate change out of the water and reveal them for the political agendas that they really are.
