Writing is good in the way that you can express yourself. Posting here in myLot help us express ourselves and by implication will help us develop writing skills. The only difference is that we type what we want to say instead of writing it. Do you think you developed more on writing skills through myLot?

That's good. There are really many things that we hate until we practiced and learn to see its importance and we eventually love it.

I believe that I have improved my writing skills here on mylot. It is really a great tool to improve writing skills. I found out that the best way to improve writing skills is to use it and by practice. Mylot is my practice ground. I have learned so much from reading posts here. Until now I'm continually improving.

That's true. Aside from developing skills we also learn many things from others. I also have many things learned from the post of other members here in myLot.

Judging from some of the posts I've seen from users with well over 1,000 posts, I don't think mylot helps TOO much with writing or mastering a language. A lot of writers these days (especially professional writers) don't really put pen to paper anymore. Things tend to go straight to the computer.

Yes. We are good in something but it doesn't mean that we cannot add on it to help it improve more.

yes very much. Initially when i joined mylot, there was no clear cut idea how to write a meaningful discussion. my earlier discussions are like questions about the mylot rules, post etc. But later I grasped the idea of writing good ones.

Definitely! Continuing on participating in this site improves our writing/typing skills as well as develop our grasp with the english medium of communication. The discussions that we participate in also ingnites our thinking as we read other responses by other members who have also posted and participated, enabling us to develop our opinion regarding the topic which is being discussed. (^_^ )

I would have to say that joining mylot has helped me a lot with my writing. Not directly but indirectly. Through Mylot, I joined Helium which allows you to submit articles and these get rated. I discovered that I was a woefully inadequate writer which made me redouble my efforts to improve. Mylot allows me to practice my writing, the way I form my phrases, my sentences, etc.

Paid-to-write sites are very meticulous to the articles submitted to them. It's already okay to the site but it is the customer/readers who usually have higher standards that writers are screened carefully by the site. You can also try joining www.freelancewritingcenter.com. It is also a site that pays you for writing articles for their clients.

hi. I used to write when i was still in high school and been a member of a few writing clubs in our school and community. But when I got into college, I was preoccupied with the real and big world, I stopped writing. But after giving birth to my second son and got bored of life, I discovered the internet and suddenly found myself blogging and in Mylot! Many friends have been inviting me here but I wasn't that interested. When I'm finally here and responding to posts, I began to gain back what I have lost a few years ago, my love for writing articles and now posting. My self confidence was so low before but now that I have been practicing here, I know that my hands and brains are back to normalcy! If I had known that Mylot could be a great helping tool for me and a good way to start again, I would have gone here over a year ago!! Thanks to Mylot!!

For someone who her English is not the native language like me, this place is giving a great opportunity to improve the language skills by reading others and writing myself. If you want to improve your writing skills you have to improve has a human being and the social atmosphere can help for it if you handle it right. If you have a self discipline and true willingness you develope yor writing, as I believe. good luck !

Maybe it can help us express ourselves into tpying whatever ideas we have in mind... it let us think and think again to write the things we have in mind, but i don't think it can help us improving our grammar since there's no grammar police here.. wrong grammar and typo errors are quitely understood as in not to offend anyone on this site. I don't mind wrong type error and grammatical error as long as it is understood by means. But i wish this site has a grammar check while you type so before you post, it's filtered by the system.

Yes, I also believe posting messages here helps us a lot in expressing ourselves. Regarding the grammar issue, I just enabled the grammar check of my internet browser so that incorrect spellings are highlighted every time I type.

Personally, I think that it will at least help me keep my mind active and keep me in the practice of putting my ideas into words. Ever since graduating college in December I am really missing using my brain and writing, which is crazy since at the time writing was sometimes stressful. I don't know if posting here will improve my writing skills, but I certainly do feel it is therapeutic and keeps my mind active, and takes my mind off worries and depression, at least while I am reading and writing. One thing that I am very sensitive to is a lot of typos and just general confused writing. Im certainly not perfect, but I try my best to correct myself and to write as clear as I can, but I have read some things on here and I can't even figure out what the person is saying, or at the very least I have to read it several times to comprehend.

MyLot seems to favor smaller pieces. Short comments and all. So I don't think it's going to improve my writing skills in general. But I can see how it might improve my brainstorming process, idea development. Thinking and wording my opinions so they get my point across... For working on my skills when it comes to writing articles, short stories and novel, I will however go somewhere else...
