Are you close to your grandparents?

Today while I was tidying my room I found the homemade card my grandma made me for my 21st birthday. They're amazing caring generous people, my grandparents. Grandma just turned 70 in May, Grandpa will in August. They're so active and have so many stories to tell about planting their garden, helping out their charities or their long trips everywhere. (right now they are driving their way to the west coast (of Canada) are you close to your grandparents?

Nope i cant say i am. Since i was 2, i've only had the 1 Grandmother & we've never really been close. Come to think of it, she's never been close with any of my siblings either. She has always played favourites with her own 2 sons so it was pretty obvious that she'd play favourites with her Grandkids as well. Her favourite son has 2 daughters & now one of them has given Grandma a Granddaughter (almost 1) - now my father has 3 kids (which includes an ONLY Grandson for my grandmother) & she has never really seemed to care what went on in our family as the other side of the family was more her priority. My daughter was recently 2 & we have another on the way (due in 4 weeks) but she doesn't seem to care about that. When we see her she comes across very fake with her interest & to make it worse - when my brother was drafted in to the AFL (it's our professional football league here in Australia) Grandma went straight up to her favourite son's house rather than coming to my parent's place to congratulate him. I have just given up with her & have decided that if she chooses favourites then it's her own fault if she feels left out as she's never made the effort with my side of the family, why should we make an effort for her?

Sorry if the above sounds harsh but there's it's hard to make an effort with someone who has always made you feel unimportant all your life :)

I was once very close to my grandma although I never get a chance to see my grandpa as he passed away before I was born. My grandma was kind and thoughtful. She always took me to playgrounds or visiting her relatives. What a wonderful memories I had with her. Now that she has passed away 9 years ago and I still missed her.

I used to be very close to them but they are not around anymore. I have a lot of fond memories about them. They have been very good to me and my siblings. My grandpa would bring me to school when I was in kindergarten and it's just a walking distance that's why we also spent time talking to each other and he would share me wonderful stories. My grandma on the other hand cooks really well and would cook anything we request. She's very hardworking. She scolds us sometimes but I know it's for our own good. She's a very jolly person and loves sharing stories too.

Hey allie! I'm VERY close to my maternal grandparents, in fact I'm closer to them more than my parents! I lived with them for 12 years before moving to stay with my parents till now. My childhood is all about my grandparents, my uncle and me! Good thing is that we lived nearby , so I'll visit my grandparents place like 2-4 days per week. =D
