It depends on your perception of successful of course, but using today's rather skewed values, I guess that intelligence would be higher placed than honesty. You only have to look in the media to see how many very successful lying b*st*rds there are out there.

I think intelligence is more important because some people everything they touch it becomes gold and they are usually extremelly intelligent too.

It is sad to see the honesty taking the back seat.

Well, to me honesty is more important than intelligence ,and my integrity means more to me than to be successful and this is probably why I'm not that successful when it comes to money. Is difficult for me to make money by taking advantage of others. In regards to everything besides money, I consider myself very successful.

Bala Good one. Success is subjective or rather can be categorised. To me being successful doesn't mean to have lots of money and luxury. I would not find myself successful if I have all things on earth but a dishonest approach towards life. I would rather be unsuccessful and honest to the world. So honesty is something without which I cannot do without. And ofcourse intelligence is very important. A dumb person cannot reach the coveted no. 1 position.

I honestly think it is intelligence these days. It does not pay alot of times when you are honest anymore, it seems. I think you have to be more intelligent to make it through and have a successful life. You have to know the ins and outs of everything to make it all happen.

Intelligence with honesty. I feel possession of either of the two may not suffice for being a successful person.

So you mean to say that a very honest man without a shred of intelligence will succeed and a very intelligent dishonest man also can succeed.

This is not fair Deepak. If You have to choose only one and substantiate with reasons what will you do? You know that this is just for discussion sake.

Intelligence if most important if you wanted to be successful. Of course if you were an owner of a company or business store, you wanted your employee to be honest. But if you wanted to be a suceesful in business world, intelligence is the most essential than honesty. Though I do not thing 100% honesty will work in business worlds.

It would kind of depend on the field they are in but honestly is always the best policy. I know people who are sucessful that are dumb as a rock so it doesn't always take intelligence. What it does take is MOTIVATION and that over all things is what I would like to have. Thanks Zelo

It all depends on who you are and how you want to be known. For instance, I am a child of God. Honesty is the most important thing for me. God gives me wisdom and success, all I have to do is his will and a part of that is being honest.
