With rising gas prices my summer vacation plans to drive to the North Carolinal beaches appear very bleak. I am spending at least $100 a week in petro alone commuting back and forth to work. The average gas prices in my area are $3.94 to $3.99 a gallon.

An hour and a half isn't far to travel to the beach, if I were you I would go. I have to travel 4 hours to reach the beaches on the Carolinas Coast.

Yeah, this fuel prices can nearly kill any trip now. I don't think that I will handle any road trip in the near future.

My father has a cottage two hours North of where I live, and he lives right on a beach, so I can go up there anytime I want, and stay or a few days. It's a pretty nice get away for a few days.

Hello, we have cut back as well , and the nearest ocean is about 6 hrs away .We might go to the lake late summer for a few days . For now I will just make do with my pool.

The pool is better than nothing at all. Nothing beats the beach in my opinion-but I may have to make due and settle for the surrounding lakes and pool also.

it's like body boarding but with a stiff or flexible styrofoam board I usually go to Watercolor next to seaside
