The REAL American Idol for me is...

First and foremost, I am not an American but I did watch all the episodes beginning from the 4th season and never miss even a single show up to the time David Cook was announce as the winner in the most recent season. That's how fanatic I could say I am. This discussion is just an opinion of mine regarding who should have been, or should be the next American Idol though it will still be a year away from today. To be regarded as such is not a simple thing and should not be thought as simply having a great tone of voice, bearing a pretty face and projecting best in front of the camera. He or she should be more than that! It should extend beyond what senses could initially appreciate. An American Idol should be a real inspiration (a positive one I hope) to millions of people, young and old, American or not, (because we too are affected by this great show) who hear, see and feel whatever they are trying to convey in each word they say and each note they sing. They should have a real passion for it and great intention of touching lives through their God-given talent. Because one may never know that the song they have sung and aired on the television or played on the radio may have saved a depressed man from committing a suicide and made a broken hearted person healed. But on the other end, it could aggravate the hatred in ones heart or creates dispute between two different races. A musician affects lives as music does and should not be taken for granted because it may break or make, uplift or put down anybody who captures their message from the songs they sing.

Music is a powerful medium..it has a profound effect on many people..I listen to varied music...I really am a David Cook fan..he was my choice for a long time... I know the show has to pick interesting contestants so that people will be intrigued..but sometimes I think some are too quirky and then they detract from the voting..and it becomes a popularity contest instead of a talent contest. But when you let all of the country vote you will end up with many opinions and many diffent ideas..it's a very good concept for the producers. I have watched it most every season..some with more interest than others..this season I just liked David Cook so much that I watched so I could hear him sing...I will definitely buy his CD when he puts one out...I'm interested to see what he does after his initial contract is up...some do well and some don't... It's diffcult to put too much weight on the contestant as to exactly what they will sing, as the show directs them to certain genres and they don't always have a choice in it all..David stayed pretty true to who he was and I appreciated that...he also has a humble honest quality about him.

I do like Mr. Cook. But honestly at the beggining i was rooting for Archie(lil David) but as soon as Big David started to sing songs in a different way making it as if it was him who sing it originally... I did finally decide to wish him well and hoping for him to win. And I'm glad he did!!! Thanks for the wonderful response and i do agree with every concept you've stated here. Again, thank you and God bless my fellow David Cook fan
