When you choose a discussion to answer.....

Do you prefer to answer those that you know will be read by the poster and you will be responded to? I typically like to respond to those discussions that I know the poster responds back in, simply becasue I like to have discussions on different topics. When you can respond back and forth I think it makes for a better discussion what do you think?

Oh me too Erilyn, I want some kind of acknowledgment that I have took the time to address the discussion. If I have a friend that I begin to understand is just starting discussions with no real intent on wanting the information other than to make him/her money I stop responding pretty fast. There are too many of us that do enjoy what we start.

Oh I know it, and you know me I love a good discussion! I am here more for the discussions that I have with people than the money aspect. whats funny though is my daughter asked me earlier how much I have made here on MyLot just having discussions. I went through all the earnings I have had here, and though I have been a member for a year I was gone for a while, anyway as i was saying lol I actually added it up and all together have made a little over $25. She said to me thats not a lot and I told her that's just a bonus I have gotten for having great discussions with people! I had to explain to her its not about the money as much as it is talking to interesting people, and getting great ideas from other people!!

I definitely agree. But with a baby I am not always available to wait on someone to respond.

That is completely understandable! I am not always able to respond right away but I do try to when I can :). It's not always right away and I wouldn't expect someone to be sitting around to have a discussion. Just like one discussion I posted on Sat I hadn't been able to get back to till today. We all have other things going on in our lives :). (my typing is terrible today please excuse it!)

I had my 2 youngest kids 16 months apart. I know exactly what you mean. My oldest is now 15 and I think she takes almost as much time as a baby sometimes. At least when she was a baby I could lay her down for a nap lol.

Yes here I am responding almost a hour later... I cant believe that a little baby takes up so much time. This is my second child. My first is 6 years old. She can entertain herself and does not have to watched continuously.

I like it when real discussions develop on MyLot, too, but I don't really think about whether the poster will answer me or not when I reply. After all, anyone (not just the original poster) could respond to my post at any time -- there's no telling when discussions will develop. I appreciate the politeness of the people who respond to just about every comment they get, but if someone just says, "Thanks for the nice response" and nothing else that won't really lead anywhere.

This is true. There are a lot of people on MyLot though that only post one sentence questions or answers. My Discussions tend to be more legnthy lol. When I post a discussion it is always more fun for me when it is an actual discussion. Often times though the longer the discussion goes on the more off topic of the orginal question it gets, but its all in good fun! And it is a good way I think to get to know your friends on MyLot!!

i search for the discussions that reallyinterest me and for' which I can make an intelligent response so I do not pay a whole lot of attention to which will be read by the poster. I assume we all will do our best to answer our 'responses so I do not worry much about that part of it' at all.

Thats cool then you have posters like me who I have only certian days I can be online, so it does sometimes take a couple of days for me to get back to a discussion lol. I just wondered what other people though of the discussions :)

I respond to the topics that interest me. I don't care if I will receive a response back. I have noticed that there is rarely a true discussion evolving from this. And yes, although I try, I do not always respond to all the replies in my discussions, simply because I feel everything has already been said, lol. I guess you won't be replying to mine then (cry, pout, lol).

Of Course I will respond back lol. When I first started here on myLot I nocticed that there were a lot of great discussions where people would actually converse back and forth. I personally think it makes for a better discussion. After all thats what a discussion is people talking back and forth right? lol There have been some discussions that I have responded to just because they interest me, and I know exactly what you mean about sometimes there is just nothing left to say. so no crying or pouting!!!
