helper for dinner? I went to the pantry and have no ideas. But did find 2 boxes of the stuff. With hamburger in the fridge it does seem a logical choice. What would you serve with it?

I don't think making hamburger helper is cheating! lol I use to LOVE that stuff. if it were me and I wanted to make it and figure out something for the side, it depends on what one it is but I might serve bread with it, like a garlic bread or something and maybe a salad as well.

It's not cheating at all. It's so difficult to come up with something every night for dinner! I can really get burned out on comingup with recipies, so having some help from the pantry is a nice thing. I would be sure to serve some vegatabels and/or salad with the Hamburger Helper though. And make sure all people have a goof helping of veggies on their plate. I think the Hamburger Helper will cover you on protien and strach, so you just need to provide some fiber. I like proccoli or string beans. Something green always adds a nice contrast to the plate.

No it isn't cheating or atleast I don't think it is, and if it is then everyone is cheatingall over the world. I love Hamburger Helper every kind they have. We have our favorites though which are the cheeseburger Mac and the beef & noodles. Sometimes we will make corn or beans and maybe fry potatoes if hubby wants it. But they really are almost a meal in themselves.

I don't think it is cheating at all. I think it is an economical and fast way to cook a good dinner with the premade mixes and such. I fix hamburger helper sometimes and we eat butter toast or garlic bread with ours. I'm not sure how many people you are cooking for but I fix one box and it feeds three people and sometimes we have some left over.

ersmommy_ I think the purpose of Hamburger helper is to provide a short cut if you're caught unprepared. Don't worry about what to serve with it. It's not something you serve everyday, so take it easy. Families can go one day without a balanced dinner. I suggest brownies and ice cream after dinner. That will round out HB helper as the perfect meal in a pinch. [em]lol[em]

Well, I stay as far away from processed stuff as I can as often as I can. But, I also make this on a rare occasion. When I do make something like this, I try to balance it and make side dishes of fresh fruit salad, salad or veggies.

It's not cheating, if you have it in the house. Do you also have the ingredients to make a salad, or some garlic bread, maybe with cheese on it? Those might be good to have with it. I love Hamburger Helper!

It is not cheating. You have a meal right there available to you. Sometimes you just need to make a quick meal and that is what they are there for. I do not use such things because I am on a wheat free diet and it is hard to find packaged meals that are reasonable priced. But before I went on this diet I used packaged meals alot.

I don't think it's cheating! I actually really like some of the hamburger helper stuff. When I was little, I can remember actually requesting that my mom would make the lasagna hamburger helper cause I liked it so much. I still really like that kind. I don't think there's anything wrong with serving it for dinner, cause it's still a nice hot meal. I think it's just one of those things that I wouldn't want to serve all the time, but it's good to have sometimes. I'm not really sure what would be good to serve with it though. I think the last time we had hamburger helper, we just had a salad on the side.

I personally consider it cheating. I have a few boxes in the pantry for those days when I feel like being a lazy cook, but that is just me. I know lots of people make it all the time. I just really like to cook, so when I pull out a box of Hamburger Helper I am cheating for the night. I also consider store bought pie crusts cheating to give you an idea of my outlook though. It is different than a lot.

I serve my family hamburger helper all the time. You can serve a side salad with it and some kind of vegetable like green beans or corn depending on what type of hamburger helper you are serving.

not only is it not cheating, but if you add a little of your own spices, maybe some extra cheese, and a pinch of Mom's love....it would be DELICIOUS. on the side i would serve a nice garden salad (or if you want to take it really easy, a CAN of vegi's) and maybe some garlic toast. ENJOY!!!

There are definitely days I would serve it if I had it in the house... which is why I don't keep it in the house! But I do make a homemade version...noodles, ground beef, some tomatoes or cheese sauce...I add veggies. Salad would be good with it, a side of green beans would be nice. I avoid the processed convenience foods for health reasons (my boys have seizures and the additives increase seizures), but let me tell you, some days...I wish I had a "cheat" menu! But these are the days that I grab for something that I've made earlier & frozen for such a day! Serve your hamburger helper PROUD, Mama!!!
