Independence day in the Philippines and our town fiesta! (June 12)

Happy Independence day to all Filipino around the globe and here in Mylot! I know it's exciting plus holiday to all workers and students who are in the PI! Enjoy and have fun!
It's my first year to be far from my family and they are celebrating our town fiesta today, Lots of food, guests and activities. I've been calling them and they are very busy cooking!

Happy Independence Day to you checapricorn! Well, today is not really a holiday here in the Philippines. The president moved the holiday to June 9. While we celebrate the Independence Day today, students are required to attend school and working people are expected to be in their offices. It's your town fiesta today? Where in the Philippines are you from? I am sure that you miss a lot of people and things here.

I see..sorry for that, I am from Negros Oriental, the closest city of my town is Dumaguete! I do miss my family, food, people,tricycle,boulevard and everything about Philippines..LOL!

yeah.. too bad the president keeps moving holidays like they were meetings that can be adjusted to the most convenient hour... sigh.. i didn't even feel that the independence day passed.. the celebration used to be extravagant.. now, it's blah. i didn't even see any parade or anything... reason? it was a regular working day thanks to gma... sigh.... what's happening to us... yeah, maybe we should not be celebrating... i don't feel free anyway... from the burden that the administration brings...

Hello posham, I am also with you, it's like the essence of the celebration is being taken for granted. The main focus is to have a straight weekend or whatever....I hope the people next time will be smart enough to choose leaders!

Happy Independence Day to all Filipinos too here on myLot and around the globe. I'm so silly, I thought you were foreigner my friend. LOL. Anyways, It's a working holiday here coz the President made a bill that if a holiday falls on a weekday, we will be having no work either Friday or Monday.

In Canada it's July 1st, and of coure you know that in the USA it's July 4th. Danish Constitution day was on June 1st. It's nice o know when different people's cultural holidays are.

Happy Independence Day and Happy Fiesta to you too... and eventhough Monday was the official nationawide holiday...the mayor of my city just declared this day a none working holiday... and there will be a commemoration of when Emilio Aguinaldo raised the Philippine flag... it will be held in one of the oldest houses of the city... i love fiesta food... i wish i can go to your house and eat my lunch there...

Hi checapricon, i think you must be missing this, all of your family and friends must be missing you. Then tell me what thing you miss more other than your friends and family? the food/activities?
When we have holi or diwali ,and when i was away from the family i miss the family and food and the enjoyment, teasing others. enjoy :)
