What's considered flab?

Would you consider a drooping belly close to the hind legs as a flabby belly on a cat --- or does that seem like a sign of aging? My two girls are flabby there and I was just wondering.

my cat has this too and yes, he is neutered! i'm glad to hear that other cats have it too, i was beginning to worry that it was just him! but for cat owners who have boy cats, better have the flab checked because it might be hernia or something.

I think all neutered cats get this. I don't think it's a problem for them. Cats' weight is judged by looking down at them from above. There should be an indentation behind the ribcage, before the back legs. The flabby belly thing does, I believe, increase with age. We all sag a bit as we get older.

I have a cat that for the past 6 years has been an outdoor cat. He got in a fight, got an infection on his face, TWICE! then he became an indoor cat after his $400 face lift. Since he has been indoors, his weight has doubled and he has that flab hanging off his stomach down to his legs. When he walks, he knees it and it jiggles. He is now 13 pounds. My kids say he has gotten fat, I call him fluffy.

Are your cats spayed? I think thats what happens to females, as both of mine have it and they are otherwise thin. One of them was recently spayed and has since developed it.
