Have you ever brought back up your medication?

Has this ever happened to you before? I am having a cup of tea, and I took the four pills I have to take and felt like throwing up, I thought it was because of the taste of the pills on my tongue, well I took tea with it to wash it down and I gagged for a minute and brought everything back up, Has that ever happened to you before? I am not sure what to do know, the pills did not have a chance to dissolve and enter my system, just I just act like I took them or take them over again?

Call your Doctor and ask him or her what you should do. This is not something you should attempt to answer on your own, without proper medical advice. In the future, I would try taking the pills one at a time. I have several that I also take on a daily basis, and am unable to handle swallowing several of them at once. Also, water seems to be the best way to take a pill, as it won't melt them on your tongue as fast as a hot drink will. Please call your Doctor and then let us know his or her advice!

The advice of one at a time is also very good. I do not take meds, other than a lot of vitamins, and sometimes if I take too many it does cause me some problems. You are right, water is the best for getting them down.

I have had this happen with antibiotics. I always call my doctor to see what to do. And he usually tells me not to take them and changes my meds. But I don't think I would re-take it without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first. Just to be on the safe side. Here's wishing you good luck with getting your meds. down in the future. You know some medications are supposed to be taken with water. Hope you get the problem solved soon.

I have throwed up pills before and it was so gross tasting...Well,if you just took them and they didn't have a chance to disolve then it might be safe to tak them again but it is best ot ask a Doctors opinion first before doing this just in case, we don't want to have you overdose by accident. I have retook pills especially if they came back up almost solid but gel caps disolve way faster then tablets so I guess it would seriously all depend on the type of pill your taking also.

well I think that is probably best. WOuldn't want to overdose yourself just in case they did get into the bloodstream already. I have seen people though take a half dosage before but we listen to the professional on something as serious as this.

Hello winterose, It happened to me when I tried to take it without any water. I was in the airport that time and out of water and decided to just chew it..Gosh, I felt like throwing it up but I also need to swallow it for my own sake..I did eventually but promise to myself, I will try my best to have water all the time..

Sometimes I take all my vitamins on an empty stomach, and that almost always leads to nausea, especially if I'm taking them with green tea. Try to eat something first.

I only take onen pill at a time. Then afterb 1/2 hr., I take the next one. If I take two or more, it tends to come back up. But I never take it again unless I see the pill in the sink. Sometimes hot tea or coffee can make one nauseaus, so I only take it with cold water. It seems I'm taking meds all day long, but the pharmacist told me to space them out. If you're in the hospital, the meds have to be dispensed all at once - for time-consumong reasons - but I tell the nurse that if I take it all at once, I will throw up; she leaves it in a cup, along with water in another cup.

thanks so much for your response, I take them all at once because they are all to be taken with breakfast, then I have two for supper, there actually is one that is supposed to be taken before the others but when I do that I forget what I have taken and what I haven't and so I just take them all at once.

I make a schedule with times of when my father should take his meds (he has 13). He checks it off as he takes each. They are scattered throughout the day. Maybe you can do a schedule too.

I would take them with water, and depending on what they are, take them over again. It is important to be consistent with your meds so you get the best benefit. I am not sure what would have caused you to bring them back up, though.

I have never had this happen to me personally. I think I would try to take it again at a later time after my stomach settles down a bit. If youi have to have that medication to make it through the day, I would take them again some time later. You may want to ask your pharmacy or physician to make sure though, just to be safe.

I think I would call the pharmacy or the doctor's office and let them know and see what they say to do. If they did come back up I would think they might tell you to take more but then again they might now. This did happen to me before with a pill for neausea and it come back up so I did take another one but I would check to be sure if I was you.

I have had that happen when I did not drink enough water with them so since then drink a full glass of water so they do not dissove in my mouth or taste bitter and upset my tummy. also I take all my pills with my meals to keep from upsetting my stomach too.

Unfortunately, I take so many pills and am so sensitive to pills and chemicals with my fibromyalgia, that I have to take a seperate prescription just for the nausea. When that one runs out, I can't even think about taking the others.

I think you can try to hide them in a piece of bread or something and swallow them with it. You shouldn't be able to feel their taste then.

This does not happen to me wih pills, but oh my goodness, if I ever try to take liquid medication. Yech!!! Happens to me all the time, and of course in the case of liquid it's een worse. Yuck. That's why I don't take liquid meds at all. I can swallow horse-pills, but can't do liquids.

hi winterose! There are medicines that the body doesn't want to entertain and the body language is to throw it up. This is how I understand my own body language, that's why, I am sensitive to its signs. If the body doesn't like certain medicine, other vital parts of the body will suffer, like the liver, kidney, lungs and heart. If the liver doesn't like it, the body becomes hot or fever occurs, if the kidney is affected, the lungs will tell you by coughing it out, or there is obstruction in the heart through breathing. He, he, this is how I observe my body about taking in pills or medicines.

I have done this before, and as the tablets had not been in there long enough to get into my system I just took them again. But I am not sure what to recommend to you, I would not like to tell you to retake them and you ended up ill. I guess you should just do what you think is the best.
