I know I'm not alone in thinking that this is getting ridiculous as far as the price of gas is going. How much are you paying for gas? What is the mileage of your commute to work? What area of the country do you live? Is it rural, suburban or urban? Do you have access to public transportaion?

Gas prices in my area of Pennsylvania are at an all time high of approximately $4.07 per gallon. It is difficult because we live in a rural area without public transportation, and the nearest store to us is a 5 mile ride, so walking is out. My husband travels roughly 60 miles one way for work each day, and just recently figured that we are using about $100 per week in gas money, which is insane. Living in a small, rural area is great for raising kids, but tough on the wallet. I guess we take the good with the bad these days!

We are basically in the same boat as you. Here in my area of Indiana, we are paying 4.13 a gallon. We have no public transportation and the commute to work is approx. 70 miles roundtrip for my husband and 30 miles for myself. The nearest store is about 8 miles away, so I'm not walking! It's running us just about $120 a week for gas. Gas prices combined with the increase in food is getting nuts.

Just a few days ago I paid $4.55 here in California. I did drive around yesterday but was a bit scared to look at the gas prices. And today I'm not going anywhere. I live in a rural area where public transportation is not available, at least not without having to walk about 5 miles one way to catch the bus. And there is no way I am doing that, especially with kids. My husband work takes him to different locations. Sometimes it is only 10 miles one way, other times it can take him a lot further (over a 100 miles one way). And eventually he may have to travel even further (to the next state), though if that happens he'll only be coming home on the weekends. But that's a different discussion.

Gas is around $4.25 here. I live in a somewhat urban area in Michigan. I'm lucky because I work so close to home. There is public transportation, but no busses go out by where I work.

You are definitely not alone there!!! I paid about $4.09/gallon yesterday while it was only about $3.40 or so less than a month ago!!! I am still looking for a job and most of the time, I just walk. I have started driving more because I have already been to everything in walking distance of my apartment. There is a good public transportation system here, but I haven't used it yet. One of these days, I might. Talk to you later.

When I was driving around today, gas was $3.99 per gallon. We're not-so-eagerly awaiting the $4.00 mark. If I had to classify this awful city, I'd say it's urban. The public transportation doesn't run close enough to where I live, but there was recently a bit in the news about how the Metra bus system is expanding due to a flood of new customers fed up with gas prices. I'm not really surprised.

we don't have no transportation right now, b/c that our car got torn up, and now we are without. but, when we had the car, the gas prices were high, and I say that they are more high now.
