How to change a bad mood?

We all experience bad moods occasionally, for it is impossible to be happy all the time.We may feel sad or pessimistic, even angry with the whole world when we are in bad mood. This is normal. But it is important to know how to change our mood.Well,I am not very good at that. Someone told me that the first step is self-awareness.He said that we must recognize our bad feeling before we can do something about them.It is use trying to ignore them.Instead,we must make the decision not to be a sourpuss. Once we have made up our minds to cheer up,it is time to take action. In my opinion, one thing we can do is exercise.Physical activity is stimulating and lift our spirits. It is the best therapy there is,i think.Another way to improve our mood is to find someting fun to do.We can indulge in something enjoy, for me,mostly it is such as movie or a trip to the park,or to buy ourselves a special treat. Finally,we can seek out a loyal friend.A good friend will listen to our complains, and his companionship will make us feel better. Friens, what about you?how do you change a bad mood?

I agree with you in a certain extent, and also when I am sad or in other bad mood,I do not like to speak, but just want to watch TV or do other things which I want to do but have never done, after that I will come back to myself.

I find that engaging in an activity like digital photography, writing, drawing, singing, walking and/or looking at nature or just focusing on my breath and trying to focus on something else more pleasurable all help me feel better.

When I 'm in a really bad mood ,I'll listen some sad music and crying , after that I'll feel better ,maybe this is a girl way . I think scream out loud is a way to express your emotion , and maybe it'll make you feel a little better .

Simply take your old photo album or cd & go in your sweet old days. Or write down the feelings & read it again & again. You will laugh for your bad mood.

Talk to nice people, do something relaxing. Try to avoid stuff that puts you in a bad mood, like certain people.

Well my best option for this would be humor! A simple or corny joke my friends do make me smile and changes my bad mood to a normal good mood. LOL!!!

Playing a musical instrument can work wonders for some people. Personally, I would play guitar and the bad mood simply goes away. I guess there are two basic modes in playing a musical instrument. Perhaps the first is intellectual mode and the second is emotional mode. Professional musicians may follow musical notation perfectly and produce great music. Amatures, like me, on the other hand find emotional relief in playing. Perhaps in that case, it is helpful in changing a bad mood.

Itz true dat one should alwasy try to get out of the bad mood, since -ve feeling have -ve impressions on the brain. It all depends on the person. Some loves to sleep when they feel really bad, n some want to b out of dat place where they dont feel gud, when someone wants to roam around, n someone wants to listen to music. I believe, sharing with ur close frnd reduces ur feelings, or if u want to totally forget go ahead with gud music.

Wow! What a great post! I know everyone gets hit and runs into a bad mood every now and again. The idea that you mentioned we need to recognize the feelings and then move on. The idea of physical activity is super! I have a weight set and nice pair of running shoes to get me going! And friends, good friends, are always a good thing to have around! Thanks for the post! I hope everyone takes your advise!

Hmm..as a moody person,a VERY moody person, I should know a lot about changing a bad mood. Sometimes, you don't even realize that you're in a bad mood and is giving other people bad auras. When you do this, people can get mad at you too sometimes for no reason or for the simple reason that you're giving them bad auras. Anyway, changing a bad mood is quite difficult. When I'm in a bad mood, I eat. I eat A LOT! Eating ice cream cakes and etc can also help with the changing of moods. I'm not sure why, some scientific explanation. I also sometimes just like to sit for awhile and just think. Or observe the people around me. Doing that is kind of fun. You get to know how some people react, get to look at your situation in a third person view. Try this sometimes. Just for a half hour or so. You might find it quite thrilling. Being with friends can sometimes irritate you and add to your annoyance. But there are some friends who truly know how to change your mood and make you smile again. Trust me. Smiling genuinely is the 1st step to changing your mood. I also like to play sports. Playing a sport like tennis, or table tennis or boxing is quite a mood changer. This is because you can let everything bad that you're feeling out of your system. With your every hit, you can let your bad auras, bad feelings out. Last, crying is also a nice way to let out. Ever cried while curled up in a ball? Well, it's human instinct to return to where they feel the most safest when things have gone bad: their mother's womb. There. Some of my tricks in changing moods. But of course this all starts with you. Being in bad moods all the time makes a person look too stressed. The more you smile and give out a happy persona, the more you attract people.

I do exactly what you said. Find something fun to do. I honestly can not just sit around being bored because it puts me in a bad mood. I also am a consultant for a company that sells romance enhancement products and I think that knowing that I can rev up a relationship with my products makes me happy. I love making people happy.

Have you ever read the book The Secret? If not you should since it is very much about this subject. In the book I have read and learned that you are the master of your thoughts and mind and if you are feeling negative or in a bad mood it is simply because you were either conciously or subconciously thinging those thoughts, therefore bringing them to you. In order for you to be in a better mood you must change your "channel" by using a list of things that can switch you from negative to positive. So make a list wither in your head or on paper of things that when you think of them you are in a good place and a positive state of mind. Maybe it is your favorite vacation spot, or your pet or a family member, etc... So the next time you start feeling down, pick up that list and switch your channelto a better, more upbeat one.

I try the remedies that you have mentioned already, such as playing a game that I enjoy or finding a quiet area to read a book. At times, I will retreat to my bed and a take a small nap to relieve the frustration. One other thing that works quite well for me is to sit and write. I have a journal that I write that isn't read by anyone, but just used for me to express my feelings. It is a great stress reliever, and generally lifts my mood to a bearable point.
