What type of natural disasters have swept through your area? Where we live, there are lots of storms, rains and hurricanes. We are just beginning storm and hurricane season and may end up evacuating this year. I can't be sure. We don't have wildfires here. Though we are in a drought in this area. So maybe wildfires will be next. We've had all the other kinds of natural disasters locally from floods to hurricanes. Many people have lost their homes during the flooding and rains. And the hurricanes have claimed lives. It's always devastating.

Hello dear beauty queen. Here in the place where I live and work is Zhejiang Province. Every year we have typhoons in July and August and many places close to the East China Sea will be suffering from devastating typhoons. They cause deaths every year and many weak houses are destroyed. Luckily, I am not close to the sea, but far away from it. We have had snow disaster this January and February, leaving many trees fall down and weak houses fall down as well. Many of the trees in our school were seen lying on the ground when I came to school after our traditional Spring Festival and I felt so sad to see all of this. Many of us teachers and other workers in the school volunteered to help those damaged trees stand tall and straight again by using some tall and strong bamboos to fix them. Now they are standing tall and straight again. We also helped to remove the snow and ice on the ground. This heavy snow has caused a lot of loss to our school. Of course, many other places have been suffering from the enormous loss and damage from the snow, including my hometown, where I spent my winter vacation. And now our country is still suffering from the great loss from the Wenchuan Earthquake, with so many deaths from the quake. Every day there are a few aftershocks and the imprisoned lakes formed after the earthquake... Thank you for your discussion and take good care of yourself and your family, my dear beauty queen.

Yes, that was many years ago when I was living in the Caribbean and a hurricane hit. There were many lives lost and much damage done, but we were lucky, as we only had water damage. What was difficult was afterwards, when there were many electricity blackouts and clean water and ice were very difficult to get!

Here in my town.We have had wild fires where I use to live. The whole part wasa evacuated. I was babysitting a friend of mine's little girl. I rode with another neighbor to meat my mom at th startof the road. She had been stopped from going to get me and my friends little girl who was 3 at the time. We also get hurricane, thunderstorms and turnados here. That is sad about the floods that you have written about. I was lucky that the place I was living at was alright once the fires got stopped in the woods.

I grew up on the east coast of the United States and in Bermuda so I have seen my fair share of hurricanes. If we weren't getting hit by one then we were sitting through warnings and watches. I have been displaced quite a few times due to damage from the hurricanes to our homes. We have also been without power for bouts on end, two weeks was our worst one. That one was terrible as it was in the middle of the hottest month in Virginia. We have been lucky to not have endured more damage than we did. We were, at most, moved out of our home for minor repairs. I feel for all of these people in the face of natural disasters and hold all of them in my prayers.

Our country experienced floods, typhoons, fire, eartquake and some more calamities. However we are not much affected here in our place. Of course we can feel strong winds, floods but not too much. Our home was razed by fire few years ago but its good we are all safe and sound. So we tried to be very careful on our things.

Well, luckily I live in an area that has not seen much natural destruction yet. I do live in an Earthquake area though, and can remember the Quake from Feb 2001 really well. But I grew up in IL and can remember seeing Tornadoes and the damage they can do, so I know there is a lot of problems with natural dissasters when they do hit. I consider myself lucky so far, and continue to Praise God for being able to keep me safe thus far, and Pray for everyones safety when they are affected by the natural disasters and such happening all the time.

I'm in Pennsylvania so compared to some other places we have it pretty lucky here. We don't have hurricanes, tornadoes aren't nearly as common as in the midwest and earthquakes are pretty much unheard of here. The biggest disasters we usually get are floods and we do get enough of them! I'm not in a flood area but I'm surrounded by them so I know many people who have lost everything more than once. My heart goes out to anyone who has been faced with any kind of natural disasters such as we seem to get on a daily basis these days. Annie

Thank God, no. This country that I live in is very blessed when it comes to natural disasters. In fact, we don't have disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, storms, volcanic eruptions and droughts. Being so small, we wouldn't survive if we have these. The most we have are heavy rains and winds, and very hot temperatures at certain times of the year. My heart really goes out to those countries which are often inflicted by such natural disasters, where many people either perish, injured or are made homeless as a result.

Yep i've lived through a few hurricanes. One wasn't so bad and didn't really hit us head on but the other one hurricane gloria did. I remember it so well it was such a mess we had branches all over our yard. We were even worried about the huge tree in our front yard coming down it was getting blown so hard. We had no power for like two weeks. It was completely awful.
