i've been here on mylot for about a week now, and i've noticed something pretty strange... really dumb discussions usually get a huge amount of answers. these discussions usually sound like "have you ever been itchy", or "how many noses do you have". and is a few hours they get more than 20 replies. why do you think this happens? don't you think mylot could actually be extremely usefull if more serious discussions had more success? what kind of discussions do you enjoy?

Well, I think it breaks up the seriousness of discussions to have ones that are basically No Brainer discussions! It just kind of gives us a break so we don't have to think quite so hard! It is hard to say what discussions that I enjoy, I guess it just has to hit my fancy that day!

Hi Gabrifvg. I reckon people are taking their time off and surf on net in order to have a small talk and enjoy some activities other than physically going outside in the bona-fide world. This is what I do and maybe this obstensible 'dumb discussions' makes other people feel comfortable to reply and so it occurs. Furthermore, the way we define a successful discussions is focusing on the number of response, it is down to your earnings if I may say. Have a bash, you will see the difference. Kind regard Protectorate

wow, i got so many responses this time i'm beginning to think this is one of those dumb discussions i was talking about... hehehe but seriously, thank you all for partecipating, finally a discussion where i hear some good opinions.

These days I try to avoid the *one liner* discussions as I don't have the time to respond to them. I usually go straight to my friends discussions and respond to them so I can enjoy good quality discussions rather than the sillier ones. Enjoy yourself here in MyLot land and welcome

I would not call those dumb discussions, they are in my opinion just simple discussions, and the reason they get so many responses is because they are so simple, that anyone can respond to them, even though I have seen serious discussions get a lot of responses too.

I personally think everyone should have a fair chance to respond to any discussion that is posted whether they sound out of sort or not. I try to be fair to all so noone feels left out when it comes to responding to discussions as you have mentioned. Each to their own I guess.

I would Love to know the answer to this one. I know it does seem odd usually that a lot of these type of questions do get so many responses back to them. Personally, I do not respond back to these type of Questions posted on here unless I know the person who has started these type, and know there is a reason behind their posting something like this. Welcome to myLot, and wish you the Best.

I understand where you are coming from. I seldom respond to discussions that can be answered in two words or less! "Yes", "No", "Three". But there are people on myLot who are posting to get the money, even though it isn't much it is more than they get for just surfing. So, they post lots of discussions and their friends respond and the pennies add up. I prefer discussions that make me think about a situation, either mine or someone else's situation. I have sixty-six years of experience, so can identify with lots of situations! So, I guess it is "to each his own". Diversity makes the world go round!

It could be because that is a discussion that is really quick and simple to answer. people tend to look for the easy discussions that can be read and answered quickly. the more you can answer in a day the more you make. so people look for ones that don't take as much time to respond to. now thats not all people or everyone on here, and some do easy ones and harder ones. but that could be why the "dumb" ones get answers quickly.

I think a lot of these dumb things get the responses as they are really easy to respond to with just a few words, which is sad as there are many better discussions that get passed by as people have to actually think before responding. we just 'get lazy is all.

I think this "dumb" discussion as you name them get lots of replies, because they are accessible by everyone, everyone knows how many noses they have, whereas not everyone has been raped (example of serious discussion). So since more people can relate to the discussion, they get more responses. If there were more serious discussions then the popularity would go down as people would not be able to relate or would be scared of offending someone and not reply for that reason.

We need something to break the montotony. Sometimes it gets just too serious, dull, or boring. It is like having clowns in the circus. Just when the crowd seems to be losing interest, the clowns break into a hilarious situation. Just don't get bothered by it.

One thing I could tell you is that, dont;put your heart into it. Just don't reply to it or ignore it. Focus your attention to the sensible ones. I am also wondering why because I also encounter some topics that to me it is not sensible but I escape on that. Well, just be understanding..I know how you feel about it but just be cool... Have a nice day... I am also new to this site...

hehehe.. if a question asks you to count, that's easier to answer and just add a little about it. Unlike when you choose to answer a question that digs your past or asking for your tough opinion, that would surely gives the responder a lot of time and that makes them feel tired of those kinds of discussions. Well at least that's how i feel towards discussions like that in here. I reply not just to simple questions or logical questions but also to those ask for my opinion, my advises, my reaction or whatever and I guess that's what makes me staying. it's fun to give out thoughts that varies. it's not boring that way.

it is not new,. from the time i joined here, i see many more discussion, which are just so casual and still getting many responses. i guess its not easy for admin to check these all. also people try to respond to those which they can relate easily and easy to respond.

Hi there! I don't see those kind of discussions as dumb. They are more of simple topics that doesn't necessarily need much "thinking". Some are basically just for fun and sharing. Like what the others here said, it really depends on your interest whether you like to respond or not. And I think not all discussions like that get a lot of response. I enjoy discussions that interest me. Cheers!

I personally think that it is because of the money. People just type WHATEVER to respond so that they can get like what? $00.01? IT really is silly. I usually try to respond only to the topics that I can relate to. After all if anyone is expecting to make a living of this website I feel SO sorry for them!!

I don't really comment on non-sense discussions as those you've quoted, but I cannot blame those who do because it is just a matter of choice. You are very right though in your opinion. I believe serious and useful discussions are much more worthy to be given time.

Hi.I know some discussions are less serious than others but thats why you'll get much better results if you look up discussions from your interests. That will make all the differnce.Sometimes people reply to those discussions when they've had a hard day and cant think too much.Respoding to something is much better than to nothing right so they respond to less brainy stuff. So don't take it too seriously.Have fun mylotting!

Well, I have just one nose, anyone have more? ^^ Yes... dumb topics aren't anything new. I am making some of them too (like topic about yogurt or chicken parts). It's for cash from both sides. It's quicker to answer a stupid question than to answer a smart question... and quicker means more posts - more cash. I think that the best way is to make stupid and smart topics. You can get this huge ammount of responses than in stupid topics and talk about something really important in those second. Cheers and happy myloting.
