Do you think one person should handle the finances or both in a marriage?

one day,one of my colleague asked me if i handle my family finances,at that moment,i told her i don't.and i told her for i trust my husband and don't care the little money.she said i'm so naivy. and something change in the future is unpredictable.yeah,in china,most family finaces are handle by their wives.now,i'm be one member of them.but i let my husband know how much we have.what about you? do you think one person should handle the finances or both in a marriage?

I'm no good at accounting, and I think we'd end up with a mess if I did the day-to-day finance managing. I'm happy to leave that stuff up to my guy, but we do go over it and discuss it. I feel that, as long as both parties are comfortable with the way it's handled, there shouldn't be a problem. I think there should be a shared discussion of what's going on, moneywise, but I don't think both parties need to be involved in balancing the accounts and that sort of thing.
