Let Them Eat Cake to keep well

I am staggered. Absolutely blown down. I have always subscribed to the view that you needed to eat at least five fruit or vegetables a day, eat low fat meat or none at all. Regular aerobic exercise and maintaining you height in proportion to you weight is also vital to longevity and good health. But new scientific research conducted on no less that 20,000 Britons aged between 18 and 90 has concluded that all our healthy eating, regular exercise and weight management is not only unnecessary, but positively life threatening!! One of the UK's leading nutritionists, Professor Paul Thuroth-erwon, at the University of EtonDrinque in Berkshire ran this huge study together with colleagues at the Brigadoon School of Nutrition in Scotland over a five year period. The sample groups were divided equally into two. Half led the conventional "healthy" life and the other half did no appreciable exercise, consumed high calorific foods, men swallowing not less than 4,000 calories per day and women 3,000 per day. The "unhealthy" group were not permitted to consume more than one fruit or one vegetable a day throughout the study period. Each study member maintained a detailed diary over the study period recording their food intake and exercise regime. Each month every group member was weighed and received a detailed cardio vascular examination. During the five year period, no fewer that eight hundred and seventy three of the "unhealthy" group actually died. But a further one thousand five hundred and twenty one of the "healthy" group died also. Several of the "healthy" group died whilst jogging or taking part in other exercise. Of the "unhealthy" group, virtually all who died were over the age of 75 and died of age related disease. This contrasted sharply with the "healthy" group, where those that died were predominantly in their 40s. The Brigadoon Director of Sports Science, Sucha Legge-Pullar said that she was satisfied that as a result of this study she would have to recommend to the British Government the immediate cessation of the British Football, Rugby and Cricket Leagues. Colleagues at the State Department in the US are also considering urging US universities to withdraw spots scholarships. Seems fat is friendly. What do you think?

Everyhting in moderation, that's waht I think. Except excercise where you should do as little as possible. his researcher is a man after my own heart. I tend to vary a lot with eating, some days it's entirely junk others it's healthy eating.

FAT IS MY FRIEND!! lol It is amazing these studies. i don't really take them to heart though. Perhaps the "healthy" group had some undiagnosed problem to begin with. What if half of the "unhealthy" group had members of their family to live over 100 and there were many of them? There are ju8st too many things to consider, you know? BUT I do like the outcome of the survey!! LOL I don't think I will eat over 300 calories a day, but the occasional treat doesn't seem so threatening!

LOL That's hilarious. Well, I guess they've gone and proven the Twinkie theory true. Legend has it that the man who created the Twinkie snack cake ate one everyday of his life and lived well into old age with a strong heart and good health. Perhaps preservatives help "preserve" us????

That is interesting and amazing. I wonder maybe if stress has anything to do with it? If you are constantly concerned about what your eating because it has to be healthy then maybe internally people are stressing themselves out. We don't usually think about eating unhealthy stuff we just do it and like it most of the time. There really isn't any stress in that until later when you ask yourself why didn't I eat healthy... This is a very interesting study...

Wow! This is good news for those of us busting our behinds to get fit and healthy to live longer. I don't know if I would go as far as the study did but I seriously need to change my ways because I am so unhealthy it is not funny that is why I am buying a bike to ride to get healthier. This is one of those things where it means you can have your cake and eat it to sounds like.

Yeah it is always good to bike together with someone. Where I live it is alot of hills and curves. Plus I live about 10 miles from town. I would one day like to be able to ride there and back without having a heartattack..lol

Ah, yes, I heard something similar done by the 'University of Atlantis', I think the research was done by Proffesor I.B.Leavethis. I tend to agree with all of the research there. I am technically 'clinically obese', but if you look at me you'll see that I don't look particularly fat. I'm healthy and happy, so I don't see why I need to exercise more than I already do. I eat what I like and like what I eat. Life's too short for diets and to fill it up with exercise. Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we diet...............but tomorrow never comes! ;)

The University of Atlantis is a most august academy. I believe that it was there that they discovered that Aerial washes whiter, but only when the Little Mermaid was not in the clutches of the Sea Witch. People don't always read, even though they see Dory.

woww... this is really an interesting research... and the results really amazed me too... sounds like they are encouraging people to live an unhealthy life and they will live longer and healthier compare to those people who live a healthy life... but i don't really believe on this study completely... i still choose to live a healthy life to keep me healthy and live longer... take care and have a nice day...

You think that you are so cute and that we would not catch on to your little Sucha Legge-Pullar joke. Actually, there is quite a lot of truth to your little funny. I believe that a person is going to be what they are regardless to what they do, eat, or don't do. God created us all to be a certain way and that is how we are going to be.

as A diabetic I dont think I am going to change my healthy diet on the word of one study as I am doing just fine this way and before I was not. I do know that for myself if I do not eat enough fat my skin gets so dry and irritated it makes me feel ill so we must have some fat in our diet. but this study really blew my mind. lol.

In 1963 they held a similar study in Auchtermuchtie, where two volunteer teams partook of two different menus.Professor A.Angus stated that no harm would be done by consuming large quantities of battered cod and chips. The nigerian nutritionist Dr Loosapowndatoo pointed out that the high fat content contained in Prof Angus`s diet could have harmful effects on the arterial functions, and his group were given their daily calorie intake in tablet form.A swiss nurse namely Amy Fatankles involved in the study collated the information from the two groups on a daily basis. The outcome of this study was very much the same as the study that you have talked about in your discussion.Neither group suffered any ill effects over the two week trial periods of the diets .Yet again another interesting report . Fat free or fat laden..does either have any bearing on our longevity??
