I've got sunshine, on a cloudy day.....

I love that song "My Girl" by the Temptations, and all day it's been running through my head. Why? Because the sun finally came out! We had sunshine yesterday, but today was downright HOT! It's supposed to continue all week, with a thunderstorm here and there, but that's ok, as long as there's no hail. So I gathered up the town (we really need a bell in our Church belfrey so I can call them all at the same time!) and we got to work and loaded up all the sand bags and had them put back into 'storage'. We got them ready for transport but had to wait until today for the flatbed to come and remove them after loading. Our streets are now dry and back to normal, and the road blocks are also gone. I don't feel like I'm living in the movie "Children of the Corn" anymore! LOL I also have a green beard on my front 'lawn'. I had graded it and reseeded it, and this afternoon when I watered it, I could see the spaced out blades of grass poking through the peat moss! It looks like a fine fine beard of green stubble! Too funny. By the end of the week, it should look more like a real lawn and the neighbours will stop laughing at me. The seeds we spread on the town 'green' sprouted last week and the common is now ready for the shrubs and flowers that a neighbour has been housing in her big garage. By the end of the week, the new grass should be thick enough to set up the outdoor teahouse and the common will start earning it's existence! LOL Summer is late coming to us this year, and the rains have delayed so much. But things are looking up, and my challenge to the residents to work on their landscaping for a town garden competition, has paid off. The rain and two days of sun have made everyone's efforts blossom and I'm going to have a hard time choosing winners! LOL I'm hoping next year to enter the town in the national "Communities In Bloom" competition and at least win the "Most Improved" prize! The soon to be ex has nearly finished building the new post office at the back of the Co-Op Store, and my ladies group is planning a grand opening at the end of June. And wouldn't you know that as Mayor, I have to be the one to make a speech of thanks and congratulations to the soon to be ex for his fine work! ROFL See why I have to be civil to the guy? But he really has done a great job and the Canadian Postal Service is really impressed - and building for a government agency, you can bet he's been sweating bullets to get it right the first time, or the cost of redoing anything comes out of his own pocket! So my little town is shaping up. In early July I want to hold a town painting party and repaint the outside of our tired old lady pub! I know you all would be here in a heartbeat to help, but I haven't the budget for it.*sigh* Besides, I'm supposed to build a dungeon for you first? LOL I don't have a digital camera anymore, and so I can't post pics yet. I have three 35mm SLR's of my own, but no way of getting the photos developed quickly as it means a trip to the city. Any suggestions on how to get the soon to be ex to loan me his digital? He's very protective of it! LOL

You finally got some sun! I was thinking of telling that was enough wind and cold, and asking if you received some sun! LOL We had a very cool weekend and two days this week have been cold and windy! Today is less cold, not hot yet, although I do not really want it to be hot! Warm is good enough, and cool nights even better!

We are having problems with wilting too! Remember the other week, you said you could send me some cold and wind in exchange for some heat and sun? Seems it worked too well!

Yesterday it was really hot here and my hydrangeas wilted. So give me warm days and cool nights all year round and I'd be a happy camper!

You could suggest that you need it to make a pictoral record of your shared possessions for the his/her lawyers to use during the settlement meetings. And then you could keep forgetting where you stored it for safe keeping whenever he asks for it back. Or you could recount a Mad Meg happening and imply that the camera has taken a short "vacation" until Mad Meg recovers her memories.

LOL - yep. I wonder how long the soon to be ex could hold out before he started following her around begging her to tell him where it was. LOL I might have to arrest him for stalking! ROFL

With a Mad Meg Happening, you could potentially keep the camera forever as it sounds like she has difficulty remembering things.

Sounds so lovingly quirky and quaint Sparks... You make everything in your little niche so inviting and warm... I wish to move in! I am so sure you are inventive enough to figure out a way to steal that camera! Post the pics when you can.... I look forward to seeing them PS Sugar, I know I have emails from you and I shall get to them this evening. I have not had much time as of late on my own computer. I have been waiting to read them so I could savor the stories!

I am so thrilled that the weather is improving for you and things are coming together! Seems like the soon to be ex has some uses - well I guess everybody has to be good at something! lol hmmmm Methinks an enterprising woman like you could persuade teh ex to part with his digital camera - you outsmart him big style at every turn and I really want to see your beard of grass - you worked so hard to get it! xxx

Great songs choices Tess. Thanks. I love the songs that I have deep memories attached to, and My Girl has a very special one. "I Can See Clearly Now" is a lovely song but the memory attached to it is actually very sad. Long stories. But they are both great songs. As for The Black Eyed Peas - too old to have a memory attached but their song is still fab and makes me wanna dance, so it's an even better choice! LOL

Wow what a long story, that's okay I read it all, lol. Keep up the good work. Your lawn will be gorgeous. As for the fomer mayo, by the way congrats on landing the role. He did the best job he could I guess. Some people have people skills and that's it. They can win people over but can't do a job.

Hello moondancer. I'm glad you took the time to read it all! LOL So many people wouldn't bother. So kudos to you. As for the former Mayor - if he had done his job he'd still be Mayor and I could spend more time on my gardens! LOL

Sparky, tell the soon-to-be-ex that you want to borrow it so you can take pictures of the new Post Office that he's built. You can tell him you were planning to have one framed for him and you had wanted it to be a surprise, but to keep it in the time frame you're in, you need to spoil the surprise in order to be able to present it to him in public, when you thank him for the beautiful job he did on the building, during your speech as Mayor. Stroke their egos, Sparky and they'll sit at your feet. That's my suggestion. As to the rest of it, you go girl! You're getting grass on the green and even on your own lawn, the shrubs will be in soon, the teahouse will be going up soon, the pub is going to be given a facelift, and the world looks beautiful. I'm proud of ya, darlin. Keep it up. Is there a hospital nearby where my hubby could work?

What an absolutely capital idea! You are soooooooooo smart! I've already managed to sneak it and get it back without him knowing, but I'm going to use this idea anyway for the 'grand opening'. He'll be over the moon and have to be much more pleasant at the negotiating table next week! He won't be able to claim I'm being a b*tch and making his life a misery! LOL And sadly no, there's no hospital near by - have to go to the big city for that.*sigh* But hey, if he doesn't mind an hour's drive to work and back, it's workable living here.

Hi Sparks, Great to hear that everything is slowly coming together for you. It is lovely when hard work pay off! I guess your town has added a whole to meaning to the saying "watching grass grow" As for borrowing the camera from the soon to be ex - I guess asking for it just wouldn't work?

I tried - he said no, I had enough cameras of my own! And yes - we watch a lot of grass grow around here! LOL

We were going to do the pub when we moved in. But OK, so long as you promise not to paint it green. I don't want the punters feeling sick before they even get there! What a lot of hard work. You are making a real difference by the sound of it. Clearly "petticoat power" suits your town. All our post offices are closing down. We could have sent you one. All Britain's bastions of solidity and heritage are increasingly being sidelined now as "progress" and "efficiency" takes over. Problem is, the service tends to reduce and cost more. So that must be good!! As for getting the ex to lend his camera. How about getting him to take the photos, under supervision of course, and then posting them. You could always commandeer it under your National Emergency powers. ROFL.

LOL - I will take your suggestion under advisement. We have just negotiated a breakfast meeting, so I will broach the subject then. Now though, I'm off to bed - and yes I'll be alone! LOL I've also posted the report about the Council Meeting that made me popular enough to become Mayor! LOL Check it out. You will giggle yourself silly.

I have a teeny weeny little digital camera that my eldest daughter sold me when I wanted to try a digital camera, but didn't know yet what features to look for and didn't want to spend a lot at first. You can have it. Maybe it would do for now, if you want, until you can get a better one. I know the resolution isn't the tops, but it wouldn't cost me much to mail it to you. I'm trying to think what the youngst daughter did with her first one, too, as she bought a newer one recently, too. I'll check on that, too.

Hi Sparks! Sounds like things are shaping up nicely over there =) As for charming the camera out of the ex, did you suggest an offer he can't refuse, like dinner? I don't mean inviting him anywhere either, just maybe cooking him something. All the men who have ever been in my life turn into jelly at the promise of good food.

I gave him dinner on Father's Day when he came whining at my door because he was feeling 'depressed' at being alone on Father's Day. If I offer again so soon, he'll think he can move back in! LOL Maybe a cake (he has a BIG sweet tooth!) with a message inside saying "Your camera or the next time I poisen the cake!"? ROFL
