While stopped at a red light....

When I am sitting at a red light I always check out the drivers around me. I pulled up next to someone yesterday and she didn't look over to see who just pulled up next to her. This got me to wondering if I was the odd man out. Do you check out the drivers around you while sitting at a red light?

It depends. Am I alone? Am I bored? Are there a lot of cars? Am I the front of the line waiting for the light to change? Is the weather good or bad? Is it a long light that I am familure with? I will look at the other drivers, mostly IF I'm alone and bored. If I'm at the front of the line and don't know or am expecting the light to change soon I won't look. If it is raining I'm less apt to look at other drivers. Of course, if I'm pulling a bottle baby kitten out of the basket to cuddle at a long light I might look to see if anyone notices that I have a baby kitten in my hands.... (most of the time - yes)

Awww, how cute. I had these kittens because they were last fall's bottle babies. All gone to good new homes now.

I wouldn't look at others either if I had a kitten to hold and love. I once got a kitten as a tip as a taxi driver and he was so smart and on day one he road the whole shift with me sitting on my shoulder. He was such a great cat, I sure miss him...

Well, I always looked at those pulled up beside me, out of curiosity. But if there is pretty lady inside the car, then it definitely attract much attention I think it's good to check out the people around you when you pull up at the red light. So that we could be more aware of any potential mugger or reckless drivers around us. It's especially important to stay alert when pulling up at the red light during mid night.

I agree it is good to know who is around you. Especially when they are good looking!

WhyWiki, I do but not to closely. I feel that when my mom said it was not polite to stare she was right...LMAO but yes I kind of steal glances, and sometimes catch the eyes of that other person doing the same as I, yet look away quick so as not to make someone uncomfortable....

I like to check out the drivers at lights so I know the competition when I need to merge.

Hello whywiki, I never checked who is driving next to me while stopping at the red light. Few times my friends told me that they stopped their car next to me, honked me just to say 'hello and I just didn't bother about them *smiles* Even if I catch a glimpse of my friend's car next to me, I just pretend not to look at them *laughs* Isn't it bad?

I don't think I do, but to be totally honest, I haven't really paid any attention to it so I really don't know for sure. I do check out the traffic behind me and ahead of me, but I don't think I am actually looking at the person driving. Besides, I am usually looking in my car for something, like my cell phone or my smokes.

Next time you are sitting at a light and check out the other drivers I bet you will think of me!

I used to check out all the cars and drivers around me when I would pull up to a red light. But, with all the instances of drive by shootings and the road rage going on today, I usually pay attention to the light and not to my surroundings, other than what I see out of the corners of my eye. I will occasionally glance if something gets my interest. But I think paying attention to your driving is better than checking out the people around you. I do pay attention to those drivers who get too close to me when driving.

I like to look around and be aware of my surroundings not just what is on the road ahead of me. I live in a fairly safe city with no drive by shootings and road rage is very rarely happening here. I count my blessings daily.

Not me because I'm not driving but my husband do always check both ways before he pulled out. I have seen so many crazy drivers on the road. Some are changing lanes without giving signals. Some keep on talking with their cellphones and hardly moved when it's the time to go. This is the reason why I don't like to drive. I like to be in the country road where I am the only one driving.. lol...

I prefer to drive on country roads too, it is way more relaxing.
