History repeats itself???

Yes it really happens to people but some doesnt notice it. They say it happens again because behind it is a lesson to be learn or something to realize about.

History repeats itself time and time again because societies fail to study history and learn from the mistakes of past generations. As the old saying goes, "those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it". The study of history in schools today has been made all about the dates and the facts. What students should be taught to realize are the lessons learned from the text, not just the fact that a certain person did it on a certain date and this was the outcome... One case and point here is the war in Iraq. I, and many others, see the similarities of the war in Iraq now and the war in Vietnam in the 60's and 70's. I wish the powers that be would look back and remember. Our presence in Vietnam "ended" with the fall of Saigon. What really happened is we got our butts kicked the whole time we were over there and had to eventually turn tail and run. I wonder if a similar occurrence will one day be referred to as the "fall of Baghdad"? Just something to think about. It seems to me that we have gone from getting our a*ses kicked by little squinty-eyed men in black pajamas to getting beaten by men clothed in bath robes with towels on their heads. Who knows...maybe our next enemy will be wearing evening gowns and high heels...

Hahaha, deja vu much? Please share what happened if you wish to. =] Hmm.. personally I think on a small scale, daily lives, people, communities, history does repeat itself. We all are humans. On a larger scale, countries, the world, decisions that effect the world as we know it, these do not repeat themselves. If history repeated itself that would suggest that the scenario is the same each time, this is obviously not true. The colonials of the U.S. used crop rotation and the three-part crop system in order to produce more food. If history repeated itself, we would be doing that today. Due to new technology however, we just use fertilizers. =]

I don't think that history repeats itself unless you allow it to. However, I would agree that fashion repeats itself most definately. Seems like different genres come back again and again. That's why it's better to just leave those old clothes in your closet until the next time around. I don't know how many times I've given away or thrown away outfits that I never thought I would wear again and then here it comes back in style 5 or so years later! Lessons learned!
