I've been searching for literary agents

So I'm working on my story and while I'm doing this I am also searching for a literary agent and saving their info on my computer for when I am ready. I hope that I get to finish my manuscript soon so that I can get this going. I found this one agent today who has helped best selling authors. And I read one of the books from one of those authors. It was weird when I saw the cover of that book there on her page and I'm like "Oh my gosh I read that book." So yeah I hope that I am able to get a literary agent and get my career going for a lot of reasons. First of all because I want to see my name on a book and my work published. I also want to work and take care of my mother so that she could stay home and do what she does best, which is bake cakes. So keep your fingers crossed and pray for me because I am going to be working really hard to do this. I really want this bad and I can't wait. ^_^ Any other writers out there who are also looking for agents? If so how is the search going? Do you guys have manuscripts that you are ready to show to the agents?

My dream is also to become a writer, but I don't feel as if I actually have the patience to look for an agent. I write from time to time and have been told if I put my mind to it that I am a great writer. Good Luck to you in your career and I hope that you can make it big. Have a Great day.

Hey somecowgirl. I feel that if you really want to be a writer you shouldn't give up your dream. Keep searching and just think that your life will be better and easier when you have an agent. If you don't have the patience then take your time and try not to think too much about not finding one. You will find one, one of these days. Thanks and I wish you luck too.

Yeah I want to really get my name published and have my work out there for people to read and I want to be able to get paid for it so that I can help my mother out and for all the loans that I have from my school. Thanks and hopefully we'll both succeed.

Thank you for your advice. I am seriously thinking about editing one of my stories and looking for an agent. I really just need some inspiration to do so. I'd like to do it so that my fiance and I can make a little extra money and hopefully live leisurely. Have a Great day.

What you need to remember is that you do NOT need to pay the agents to represent your book. If they want you to pay them up front, don't do it. An agents job is to sell you book, when they sell a book they get a percentage of the profits. Other than that. I wish you luck on this book. I hope you get published soon.

Yeah I know. I'm glad that I at least know that and I do hope that I get an agent soon. But if I could sell my book to a publishing house myself then that would be just awesome. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks. Are they a really respectable company? Because if they are then I might just have to look into them and see if they accept my book.

For my first book, I went with Publish America. They are pretty good and they take about any sort of genre you can think of.

I am looking for agents as well. I am not having a good result. I think i should branch out and stop looking for strickly Christian agents. My book is almost finished, though I hit a writers block for a bit. I would like to see my book out there helping people make it through cancer. But hopefully soon I can get my book out there.

That is really cool rmuxagirl. I wish you luck and hope that you are able to get your book publish too. I know it sucks when you get those blocks and you can't get around them but keep writing and soon you will stop having them. Looking for agents is really hard. Especially since your work needs to impress them and they may have different tastes in books than you. So hopefully both of us are able to publish our books. Good luck.

Yep, my manuscript is about ready to be shipped of to a publisher or perhaps an agent. It's a tough world out there. Agents are not easy to come by especially the ones who already have best-selling authors with them. A first time author would have a better chance going to writers conferences and hooking up with agents and publishers there. Good luck, my friend. Keep writing.

Yeah I know and it sucks. There are many famous authors that were rejected a million times and they still made it. So if they can do it then so can I. All I have to do is have patience and just keep going. It's a really tough world out there some agents won't even look at your manuscripot. I wish you all the luck with your manuscript and if it does get published let me know so I can pick it up.

Good Luck on getting an agent. My sister in law writes children's books and has never used an agent. I think she has a small connection with a publisher. I dont even know if children's book authors usually get agents. She seems to have done ok without them.

Thanks and your sister is very lucky. She doesn't have to pay an agent and stuff so she's probably doing really good. I wish her all the best and I hope that I do find an agent because I don't really know how to approach publishers with my manuscripts.
