im thinking of buying an ipod shuffle as a gift, and the online stores say it comes with a USB cord to hook up to a computer, but they dont say whether or not it comes with the software cd. whereas other brands SAY they come with the cd. has anyone bought one that came with the software cd, or (like someone told me) did you have to download it from apples website?

The cable that hooks your Ipod up to the computer is how you charge the Ipods battery :) At least, this is how my daughter and my wife charge theirs. As for software, the only software I've seen them use is for ITunes which can be downloaded from the internet.

Why do you want a software cd with your ipod? It really doesn't matter as long as you have or can download iTunes right? As long as you bought the iPod as brand new and you can register its serial number online to make sure that you can use the benefits of warranty and so on, then I don't see any problem there :) Thanks for the comment on my discussion!
